Has the K850 improved with age/software updates?? It seems to have more than its fair share of threads with dissapointed owners!
Just debating wether to upgrade my K800 to a K850 Quicksilver Black when they are released on O2. |

Personally, I was so disappointed with mine that I sold it. Having said that, it was an early build, and since the sale a new firmware has been released. Although I haven't been keeping up on the firmware thread anymore, I gather it's an improvement.
If SE have sorted the build issues, then I would say go for it as the firmware is something that you know will get sorted. If they haven't, I'd suggest you avoid it.

Personally, I think it's a flawed phone anyway, even if they do/have resolved the build issues.
After selling mine, I was set on getting a K810i, but in the end I went for a P1i. The K810i is a pretty decent phone, and I'd sooner have it than another K850i.

i wouldnt get one....it took 3 replacements to get build quality and some software issues sorted, and then on my 4th phone the keypad started rubbing paint on the silver keys near the top and i got dust in the camera lens.

I really liked mine at first. The D-pad didn't take as long to get used to as I thought it would, and once the new firmware was available, I enjoyed the vibrating feedback on the touch buttons. I also like the way SE's UI has progressed, there are some nice little touches in there, e.g. smart search.
However, I was pretty disappointed in the camera; the colours on my phone were very week (couldn't capture reds correctly at all). Also, the buttons started to grate after a while; I just didn't find them very comfortable to use (I text a fair bit). Playing games was not very easy with the new control system - I longed for a 'proper' D-pad.
I sold my K850 yesterday, after owning it for only 2 1/2 weeks. It is a nice phone, but it's not for everyone.
