My guess is that no existing phone get opera 9.5. Only phones who will hit the market later will have the new browser.

you are wrong...why do you think they are showing it around running on a P1???

its impossible for the w960 to get it on its latest firmware because simply opera 9.5 is NOT OUT

a public beta should start soon (in Spring), and we all (uiq3 users) will be able to run it AFAIK

Well let's hope that for those who have P1. No chance for P990 I guess...

1 min later:

Oh yeah....that would be great. Sorry for not having fate in SE..

unless Opera 9.5 is extremely heavy on RAM - i seriously doubt that, it would mean extremely BAD programing - i canīt see why it couldnīt run on a P990 if it runs on a P1

have faith in opera not on SE

It doesn't necessarily mean bad programming.
A good browser needs a lot of memory for performance. That is, for rendering the page, images (download) and for cache.
Looking at the Opera 9.5 movies around, I would say those smooth zoom animations are not good for saving memory too.

Thanks Ares! I have faith in opera. It's a Norwegian company and I am also a operasinger...

I am certain that P990 will not get an Opera update- or any other update for that matter.
I dare SE to prove me wrong
P990i: A mistake, a curse and a disgrace So I lowered my expectations and settled for a P1i. I couldn't keep my expectations so low for a long time so now I have an HTC Touch HD

i think the point is 'YOU' will be able to install 9.5 on any uiiq3 device,so it WILL run on p990/m600.even though se is done updating the p990/m600,doesnt mean you cant update a program on the device.
as far as the amount of ram it'll take to run, thats another story.we will see soon enough if it'll be worth while to run it on a ram cripled p990..on my n800 the old browser(opera8.6 with flash 9) used aprox 18mb.-20mb.

This is only true if Opera decides to allow P990 (and older UIQ3) users a free upgrade. So far the only company who did this were the PDF+ guys - kudos to them. Remember, only SEUS can overwrite older fw, any individual update will be in the form of installing a separate application. An upgrade to Opera that will not involve SEUS is likely to cause more problems than it will solve. Thus it is very unlikely that the P990 will get that upgrade - taking into account that SE considers the P990 non existent at this point.
