Dear All

I have posted this in the k850 firmware thread but I fear it's been swamped with all the activity in it today!

I have a 02 UK k850 which is running on the 037 firmware which I'd like to upgrade over the air as I only have Mac OS X - but everytime I try to select the option to search for updates, it tells me I have the latest software when I obviously don't.

Anyone know how to work this, or does o2 perhaps disable the service?

Any help appreicated.

Stu

Hi Stu, it's just gone on SEUS before it's available OTA. Just give it a few days and it should be there. [addsig]

Anyone tried updates OTA? Does it downloaded the same huge bundles (megabyte after megabyte) as when using SEUS? If so, that could turn out to be prohibitively expensive for us with operators that charge per kilobyte...

AbuBasim, OTA update requires only few (2-3) megabytes of data to be downloaded (I did it several times on K790 and expect the same, or slightly more, on K850). This is not very expensive if you use Internet-GPRS connection profile which is many times cheaper than WAP-GPRS (the last definitely shouldn't be used at all because these phones can browse wap sites flawlessly through Internet-GPRS).

AFAIK, the file was about 2MB or less for my K850, and downloaded quite rapidly as it has 3G/HSDPA. [addsig]

I always updated my K790i OTA and it updated it to the same version like all the others that were doing it the normal way via cable and SEUS

As an aside, I still can't update my k850i over the air. Anyone shed any light on why this may be?

I have updated a K800i i owned with FOTA once or twice, but it got expensive and it only supports SE's official FW's and sometimes not even the latest i believe.

I dont know what FW FOTA uses right now on K800i but i doubt it is THE LATESt the lates..

If you go into the settings, under the general tab is 'update service' and then choose search for update. If you can get it to work that is!

I've got an Orange phone and I've looked in Settings > General, and there's no 'Update Service'. I guess Orange removed it.......

was there not a key command you could do on the main screen that allowed you into the phone's 'technical menu' to change things?
