Just used XS++ to change to GW1 and used SEUS to update. The only thing I have tried is the camera and I am pleased that the same optimisation has gone into the W960 as it did in the P1. Auto focusing is now as fast as the cyber-shot phones and having the reticule when auto focusing helps.

Will see what else is new after my backup has restored to the phone.

What I have noticed is that the phone seems to be completely ignoring the Z8 fonts I put on the media memory, which sucks seeing as the default font is fugly!

You can use different fonts on the phone, and the most popular on here are the ones used in the Motorola Z8.

I'm on o2 and SE update is telling me I have the latest FW?

I've had the phone since January!

Is this new FW update not for general release yet?

Yours will be like mine was (western europe version). Only the Generic World 1 version can currently update to this latest firmware.

If you really want it quickly you could use XS++ to flash your phone so it is GW1, this would then let you update.

Instructions can be found here.

Thanks DCUK7

In your opinion is it worth the hassle? Can you see (or feel) an improved difference?

I might do some further reading up on it before I start messing

a minor bug i notice from the old firmware is that, sometimes, after a few days of usage, i won't be able to use the speakerphone whilst on the conversation, when i switched it to speakerphone, i just lost the phone, turn it off and it's back on......a soft reset will do the trick, just wondering if the new firmware will solve this though.......

I'm really glad they've stuck the reticule in! Makes getting this FW worthwhile and not waiting for VF to provide it! Mind you I guess it could potentially affect the warranty.

I had a look at the flashing post but I've never done a symbian one (I did a W810i no probs). The process actually looks easier so I might give it a bash anyway!

I look forward to more comments on the new FW!!

Cheers,

Derek.

Just converted my UK Western Europe one to WG1 and updated. Went nice and smoothly although the backup/restore seems to miss a few settings.

As reported the camera seems a lot better and haven't noticed any green tint in a couple of photos I've just taken. Got the same bug with the focus mode not being reported of screen on pressing 4.

I also notice I haven't got an option to turn off usb charging when plugging the phone in like I used to have?

Can't see SSX3 on my phone though?

Si
