Oh, also, Microsoft is acquiring Danger, creators of the Sidekick. I wonder if we'll see some more mainstream offshoot of Windows Mobile before too long. And I wonder if it'll show up on one of the next Xperia devices? |

And while SE answered the first two questions I typed into the chat room, they totally dodged my inquiry about possible further announcements coming from their camp this week. Rumor has it that two Symbian UIQ-running SE smartphones - the "Paris" (aka P5i) and "Beibei" (Walkman smartphone) may be unleashed in conjunction with a Symbian media event on Wednesday.
wouldn't this kill the sales of the X1 ? |

I'd be more afraid of the X1 killing the P5, if I was SE. I think they'll have to differentiate them in some substantial way - moving the P5 away from business, for starters, and making it more consumer oriented.

I don't like the concept of a WM based device replacing the P990 as the next business phone. There are already a few WM devices that are available today and are a good match for the X1. Let's see what the next high end UIQ device brings us.
P990i: A mistake, a curse and a disgrace So I lowered my expectations and settled for a P1i. I couldn't keep my expectations so low for a long time so now I have an HTC Touch HD |

SE made windows mobile, now will see no more competition, only windows mobile phones. Nokia might be start making windows mobile soon so for us consumers higher and slow technology progress. If you have more than 1 OS, you have competition, technology moves faster and its cheaper to buy. |

i think xperia will make an impact in the usa cause us customers prefer windows mobile to uiq.also windows mobile mean some success for se in the usa cause uiq is an unknown word to them |

Um. The X1 is clearly a consumer device, not a business one. All the X1 information is about how it is a "premium multimedia device" and all about "the experience". Its clearly being aimed at the iPhone, not as a business phone. Theres little mention of business features for the X1.
I think the P5i will continue to be SEs business smartphone of choice. Certainly the P5 should include all the "fun" features as well - music, movies etc, but that doesn't mean it won't be marketted at serious users.
Both devices may be equally capable (I hope so, and I hope they both look as sexy) - what it usually comes down to is how they are marketted, and its pretty clear that so far the X1 is NOT being marketted as a business device.
