Re: WhyBe:
I'll probably go to the Sony Store at the Galleria (In Houston, Texas) on the day of the release.
I called and they don't take pre-orders. It's a first come, first serve deal.
Also, none of them know when or how much it's going to be either. -__-" |

Has anyone placed a pre-order yet?
I planned on getting the X1i (I'm in U.S.), so I have to pay the big unlocked price
Yep, of course. Did that in June. (I'm from Sweden, preordered at Katching). |

Is anyone going to wait for the subsidized X1 or are we all going to bite the bullet? |

BengalBoy says it will be an AT&T exclusive January 2009 for $499 contract and probably $700 unlocked at the Sony Style stores.
Why are the overseas sites saying 599 British Pounds ( = $1150 USD ?). Am I reading and converting that correctly? That's a grossly different price.
How do I order from Play.com if they don't let me enter a U.S. address |

@WhyBe
If Play.com don't let you enter a US address you will need to find someone in the UK to buy it and ship it to you as there won't be a way round it.
I don't think BengleBoys price sim free of $700 is correct it's far to cheap i would think a minimum of $900 and possibly $1,100 is more likely. Although the price could drop quite fast dependent on what else if available when it launches.

Well for the aussies out there. SE replied back and advised Q1 2009 so looks like thats another setback for SE if this is true.
But who knows they might suprise us all as they have released a few phones earlier than expected. |

Touch Pro is out http://www.purelygadgets.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=25097
AT&T version of the Pro, notice lack of the front cam, typical AT&T http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=416343
Expensive though

Why did they remove the front camera? AT&T has video calling now. It's currently only one way, but it's still video calling. Two-way video calls are coming soon. |

No I don't think they have it in stock. The meaning of the "in stock" = "The product is in stock and is normally delivered within 2 - 5 working days."
They must be just fooling people to get more orders. They have the 5 days timeframe, and they are just hoping to get the stock fast enough to fulfill their promises. Just my 10 cents.

I will probably wait since the Europe version lacks one of the US frequencies. Although it has a better video recording though.

Has anyone got confirmation if the radio frequencies are a matter of software or hardware. If the first one, then the problem could be solved just by flashing cooked Radio rom to it. If people in states would also like to have the better video recording and all the frequencies. If it's hardware based issue, then there is nothing to do.
Or maybe the other way around, what if the limited video recording is software cap? that would mean that chefs at xda-devs. would get it fixed. Flashing cooked roms would of course void your warranty, and is not legal. |
