I've been wondering about using MagicGate on my P800 as well. So, I contacted SE U.K. and this is what they had to say:
Dear Sir/Madam,
Thank you for contacting Sony Ericsson regarding your enquiry.
The P800 will only function with the standard Memory Stick Duo.
If we can be of any further assistance, please contact our Sony Ericsson
Customer Care Centre by telephone on 08705 237 237, option 2.

Well i would be VERY supprised if they had gone to the bother of making a new format (MS Duo) only to have people find a way round it.
There is only one reason the p8 has a unique memory card, & thats to get some more money off us after we have bought the phone, i think people will be VERY supprised at the cost of a 64mb / 128mb Duo they will be a nice little earner. And we will ALL buy them if we want the max use of this smartphone. |

Some people are just way too impatient... why on earth would you get the current 64MB MG Duo at US$70?!?!?!? You're paying so much for the MG function which the P800 cannot use anyway! I find 16MB small, but I can wait for the regular Duos! I'm not willing to pay $70 for functions I can't use! And if I can ever use them in the future, their prices would've dropped by then as well! |

Apparantly LEXAR are going to make the DUO also and it was them who helped bring down the price of the original memory stick |
