Well im waiting for the Magic Gate Memorystick duo (128) although i havent got the p800 yet im gettin 1 when it hits the market here in indonesia (although i am living in singapore)

iz waitin for 128 aswell but not magicgate vers as the magicgate has oads of in built copy protection limting the amount of time you can copy files from one destination to another - a very big negative point for it when you think youre gonna be using it in p800 between pc etc 
ill stick wit the normal vers - cheaper anyway usually

You can use normal ones for music too if it's in mp3 format, the only difference is with the magic gate ones you can use atrac3 as well as mp3. atrac3 is a version of the compression used in mini discs and gives better quality sound than mp3 at the same bit rate but it copy protected so you can't go sharing all your songs with other people. Nothing else is copy protected with the magic gate ones, just atrac3 files. Hope this helps!

all memory sticks use atrac3 as its sony's proprietary format vs mp3
the only diff between standard and magic gate is that encryption technologies called MagicGate used to protect music copyrights are not on the standard ones.
therefore if u want copy protection buy the magic gate, if u live in the free world get the standard one

Well...if you just want to use the P800 for copying things to another computer...then it should work just renaming the file and transfer to the phone???
Or listen to the song in the phone, and when you want to transfer it to another device, just zip it using the special zip-tool for the P800?
Do you think this will work? If I have the "law on my side" to copy my own songs I mean....

I do know that with my normal Mini Disk player, I can make a MD track directly off a CD, but it won't let me make a copy of the MD track. So i can't transfer this or copy it anywhere (to another MD, computer, etc) |

Ordinary Duo - Can handle all files, Except atrac3, no limits of copy for files without atrac3 extensions. Cheaper than Magic Gate.
Magic Gate - Can handle all files, Includes atrac3, no limits of copy for files without atrac3 extensions, and a limit of copy atrac3 files.
