Hey.
I have been looking areound a while now for a gps software for my m600i.
There are a few out here which seem ok, but they all suffer from the same flaw.. They require internet to continually download map content. For me this is unacceptable, the cost of such a solution would soon skyrocket with my current operator ( everything except data transfer is cheap, about 2 USD / 1 MB ).
So what i want is a GPS program which keeps all the maps on the phone, i have a 4Gb memory stick and the maps dont need to be real sky photos so there should be no real problem. What would be even more awsome is if it had coverage of Europe > Sweden.
Thanks
P.S. Free is offcourse best but if it has a small price tag that would be acceptable too. |

TomTom UIQ3 is what you are looking for and I've heard that Garmin XT has also a version for UIQ3. |

Does Tom Tom require a data plan? I thought that was only needed for live traffic updates. |

Hi all,
I really can't agree that Tom Tom is expensive at all as the Tom Tom 6 Navigator Software & Maps of Western Europe DVD is only £62.95 and is a one off charge. All you need besides this is a GPS receiver which can be bought for around £30 and that's it no running cost's after these initial purchases.
Which works out @£2 a week for the first Year and after that the cost keeps on dropping and seeing as this is IMO easily the best Sat Nav solution available it is worth every penny. Alternatively you have Garmin Mobile XT GPS Map Software @ £49.95 although this is only UK and Ireland and has the disadvantage of being on a memory card that needs to be inserted in your devcie and from what i understand can not be transferred to another larger card.
But IMO both of these solutions are much better than those that need to use a Data connection to download routing or require an on going subscription to work.
Of course we are all free to choose which ever method is our preference and payment method suits us best, but IMO WayFinder s both expensive and not the best.
Marc

there are some free java programs that work with gps. i use trekbuddy mostly, also you might use mobile gmaps, or navigami. all these three are free and have an option to run with offline maps.
navigami works with vector maps, trekbuddy and mgmaps with raster maps. trekbuddy is good at track logging. mgmaps has also an option to work with online maps. unfortunately i don't know uiq3 applications, good luck |
