I have heard that Meow 104.8 and FEVER 104 FM stations at DELHI support RDS. Is it true ? Can you confirm ? For confirming it you have to start Radio -> More -> RDS -> Show station Info

I don't remember the channel exactly but yes,i had rds working in my P990...but i think Rds enabled nokia phones are better suited for them...also,if i am correct,u need hutch/airtel and subscription for rds.

I was there for couple of day and saw that one of the channel was sending news and asking for song request in their rds...thats all i remember.
So i am 100% sure that RDS is there in delhi.

Dear Dr. Thug,

The feature that you are talking about is Nokia's Visual radio which is supported by these station around the World :-

01. Infinity in USA
02. The Voice
03. Iskelmä
04. SuomiPOP in FINLAND
05. maxima
06. m80
07. 40 Principales in SPAIN
08. PowerTurk FM in TURKEY
09. Virgin Radio 105.8FM
10. Bristol's GWR FM
11. Bath's GWR FM in UK
12. Radio Mirchi in INDIA
13. 987FM
14. Y.E.S. 93.3FM in SINGAPORE
15. RS Promotion in THAILAND

I am sorry but just 2 or 3 phones in NOKIA supports RDS. That's it. Yes that's true. If you don't believe then go to GSMArena and search for RDS Phones you will know about it.

That's true that you have to be the subscriber of particular Mobile Operator and you have to pay GPRS Bills to access it.

But in case of RDS; let me tell you 1000s of FM Stations worldwide Especially in US and EU support RDS. Unlike Visual Radio you don't have to pay anything to access it.

RDS can carry lot's of information including Traffic updates etc. Mostly Car Audio System are able to use most of the RDS data but in mobiles and especially Sony Ericsson UIQ Mobiles you can also enjoy most of the tags that FM Stations supports like :- RT, TA/TP apart from PS and AF. It looks like this on K810i and W960i :-

Let's suppose you are not Indian. You come to Delhi and use your Sony Ericsson Mobile phone to tune some Radio Stations here. You have tuned all the frequencies but still don't know the name of Station and program type etc. Here RDS Come. At 104MHz. you see the station name FEVER and other information that it supports. Remember you are on International Roaming so Unlike Visual radio; you do not have to pay hefty amounts for just one station and before this you must know the Visual Radio GPRS settings. Of course nobody would like to use Visual Radio at this case.

To know more about RDS; please click here ;-

To know which USA Station is sending what type of RDS Data; please click here :-

We should proud that we can enjoy RDS in India. Thanks to Virgin Radio India ( Fever 104 ). I have heard Meow 104.8 also sends RDS data.

First of all, No N-Series support RDS. Second i amtelling you the procedure toenable RDS. Make sure you get at least FEVER at 104Mhz. at your city.

Start Radio -> MORE -> RDS -> Show Station Information

There is an another option known as "Alternative Frequency". This is one of the RDS Features. This allows a receiver to re-tune to a different frequency providing the same station when the first signal becomes too weak (e.g. when moving out of range). This is often utilised in car stereo systems.

Make sure you have turned on RDS. Radio - More - RDS - SHOW STATION INFO. It must be from Big 92.7 fm. RDS is operator independent that is AirTel or any operator is not connected with it. Do see if RDS is highlighting continuously. If its not then RDS is not available in your Area.
