..there's a folder with a bunch of numbers (a unique ID for the program) in the private folder, I think. Not so extremely easy to figure out which ones should be deleted, but it's one of those.

Listen, if you reflashed the phone then that file is on the memory stick. Think...if its erased from the phone through the flash... how could it be still in the phone???!
So do to your memory stick search for the proper file and delete it. You can also use the search here for the correct folder/file info or check with the makers of SMP on their site.
That is the only way to get rid of this crap.

I have the same problem, maybe a bit more weirder. It's not the stick I know it. I changed my stick from 512 MB to 2 GB (so a new stick) but I still get a prompt to reinstall the X-plore program which was on the old stick all the time - I never install programs on internal memory.
And of course, I don't have the sis anymore, the stick is new so it prompts me anyway. I am really annoyed.

actually is very easy...this has been posted several times:
1. Connect you phone in mass storage mode (AKA Data Transfer), or use a memory card reader.
2. Go to \\private\\10202dce on the phone's folder, from you PC
3. You'll find the installer files (.sis) just delete them and you're done.
And pronto, you are read of the stupid installer prompts

How about making this post a sticky because it's a common fault that a lot of newbies will suffer. |

It's already in Nipsen's FAQ, which is stuck at the top of the Symbian phones section... |
