Hi everyone. Newbie here, just wanted to say I have had problems with my K850, and since updating to the new firmware 037 tonight. WOW, what a difference with the camera. Before, my K790 was better, now since the update, I finally feel like i have my camera back!

Like everyone I have an opinion of my own. I like my K850i more than my previous N95 or my wife's N95 8Gb. |

This tread is not about the N95 8Gig bud. There are enough treads where you are welcome to discuss the 'King'. I am happy to hear you are happy with your k850i.

I have a K850 since around 2 months and it is a great phone! The best I have ever had, great cool design and great functionality (BestPic is awesome when you want to capture action shots!) and I know it will just become better and better over time with the coming SW upgrades!
Thanks! Stay cool.
Thats exactly the point why there are so many annoyed k850i owners & dissappointed SE users out there. Why should you guys have to wait for upcoming firmware/bug fixes/SW upgrades etc to make this 'flagship' product fully useable & acceptable? Should it not be perfect and running at full its potential straight of box?
(going with your tyres analogy) would you be happy buying a pair (well 2 pairs) of brand new top-of-the-range tyres to find out the grip they gave you was useless, but be told, don't worry cause we're working on a better tread design so future tyres should handle better?
I think mib1800 has posted enough links to back up the views in this post and if you search Esato there's countless other users posting the same/similar views about there K850i's.
cheers

i have only one answer to this thread.............
compare this k850 pictures..(or someone else k850 pictures on Flickr.com of course)
http://www.flickr.com/photos/21179102@N07/
against this G800 pictures
http://www.flickr.com/photos/tags/g800/
nearly everyone of this G800 pictures looks kind of blurry. special indoor & low light looks horrible.
(i have seen all G800 pictures on flickr.com and the looks very often quite bad)
G800 have actually the worse 5 M.P. camera of all brands...(even some reviews say that)...even G600 take better pictures.

Judging by all the K850 comparisons flooding every review sites: i guess there are 2 major flaws that hinders the phone to produce results that it should given it's brand name reputation for cameras.
1. The autolens cover glass protector - since this hasn't got any coating like any camera lens have as well as at least a decent polarizing filter coating. i accuse this silly protector as the main cause of all the negative performance K850 does.
2. Sensor - why in the world that SE had used a smaller and weaker sensor like this while in fact i-mobile 902, N82 and even the G800 featured a larger, yet better 1/2.5" sensor? so by this SE has really got some really serious problems inside their imaging division shame that even the G800 which is 17mm slim and has an optical zoom lens uses a larger sensor than K850 and the imobile that has never got any better imaging experience with Sony sensors manages to produce the best image quality among all the mobile phones slapping so hard the face of SE imaging division people.

@razec
Have you considered that SE deliberately put in cheaper and inferior hardware into K850 to maximise profit?
From the plunging price of K850 since release, I think this is SE plan all along i.e. make a low cost 5Mp phone but release it initially as high end to rake in the huge profit from sales to SE-fans (or buyer who just look at brand).
Then when the 5MP competition heats up, SE will lower the price by up to 40-50% in a steep curve and still make decent profit due to low cost of production.

Yes, I absolutely agree - SE has no choice, but to use inferior/cheap components in order to minimize profit lose. The 4-th quarter is much worse than the 4-th quarter last year. (Which was a very good one) The profit shrinking continues compared to the 3-th quarter. Which means they are still going downhill. I can't wait to see the excuses they will come up with. That much for challenging Samsung and Motorola for market share. Actually they must watch their backs because LG is not far behind anymore. They should have never let the ‘BOSS’ go. SE fans must get used to cheap components for quite some time to come

Well, exactly - this is your problem. You have only one answer which you keep posting over and over. On the other side are 'many' answers posted by different users. Time to grow up And have you ever asked yourself why only the pictures in flickr look better on the K850i (actually this is debatable but let me give you the benefit of the doubt) Can it be that the shrinking routine favors one handset over the other? Anyway, I personally think both devices takes nice pics. Of course the N95 tops them all - for now

Which out of the two has the fastest shutter speed please?
Really don't know which to get now as read so many contrasting reviews. My last two phones have been the K series and I've been more than happy with both. I was all set to purchase the 850i when I came across the G800 with its optical zoom, something that I have wanted in a camera phone for ages.
Overall though I would have to go with which ever provides the best pictures indoors and out, but trying to find that out with all the contrasting views is becoming a bit of a nightmare. Help!

not tried the g800 but i had a g600 for about a week, the camera might be good but the UI is total rubbish (you couldnt add you own txt tones on g600!) it was so cluttered and hard to do anything |
