Hey everyone,

I'm new here, but not new to forum environments. I have searched for answers to these issues but i'm finding the vast wealth of knowledge a bit overwhelming in fact. Sooooo many threads to sift through for the tidbits of info that I need to compile into a workable solution

I have already managed to get XS++ FAR manager working thanks to the useful threads around here, and I am able to delete the annoying protected content on my phone.

As far as I gather from the threads I have read, I should be able to remove the protected startup/shutdown logo's and replace them with some of my own. I would like to know the directory structure where I would place these files, what format they must (can) be in, dimensions, how to do it, etc

I would also like to know how to modify the 'internet key' button to open my preferred application (Opera Mini)

Thanks for all the great help that is provided around here

You can't change the internet key to a java app, unfortunately.

Thanks for the replies.

There are only two files in 'tpa/preset/system/settings' namely: 'splash' &
'STARTUP_SOUND_SEMC.mid'. I can locate the actual images used, 'startup.gif' & 'shutdown.gif', in the pictures folder on my phone memory.
It is actually only the shutdown screen that I cannot change from within the phone. Would I simply delete and replace this file with a file named exactly the same?

Would I need to edit some of the *.xml files in the 'tpa/preset/default' folder? I see some files such as 'branding_settings.xml' & 'default.xml'. How would I go about doing this (without damaging my phone)?

Unfortunate that I cannot replace the 'internet key' with a java app. Can I change it to another function at least? It defaults to my providers homepage, using the built in browser.

change the home page of the internet account to whatever you like.

You can also change it to a html page of your own design on the phone for example:

file:///usb/webpages/saved_pages/mystartpage.html
