They are both completely different phones! Thats a tough one really. One side is great music on a candy bar phone with a decent camera and the other is a fully equipped smart phone. What is it you are looking for in a device?

If you need lots of office applications and need gps and good pc sync ( 100%) then its tytn2
for songs, better speaker, faster phone, better camera and more of phone than pda then w960 |

the simplest of google searches would tell you the TYTN2 is a 3MPX camera phone

@dick - Thanks - again ! You very well KNOW that you are MY - Google here . . . !
Even if the W960i is a 3 MP one, I guess the HTC will be very COMPETITIVE enough between the TWO !

I really don't think you will find the W960 will be faster in anything it does, but as pointed out one is a Walkman Music Player the other more of a Buisness device.
They really are targeted at different markets and are not similar at all a choice between a P1 and TytN 11 would be a fairer comparison.
A lot depends on what isadouglas wants to do and what bands he can use in his location as for the advantages and disadvantages but the TytN does have Tri-band UMTS & Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE which seeing as he is in the US could be deciding factor.

Im tired of waiting for the w960 and really like the gps option. Touch screen is a must since I love "recognize hand writing" input.
htc is a little bit too bulkey but I think it is the ONE.
Thanks for the help...esato its the best forum so far. |

well couple have said it here already, for business, you would be silly to go past the tytn II..... It is, imho, the best business solution on the market, if i needed a business phone i would get this before any other.......
for multimedia,. go the w960.
It depends on your needs/wants. go for the one which better suits your requirements in a phone....

@isa - Havin; OWNED the P910i for 3 years just ONLY shows that you are CONTENTED with that fone . . . Now, has it come to a point when you ALSO decided on gettin' another P-series model fone If so, the P990i (now very much stable) and P1i have VEEEEEERY tempting $$$$$-offers They are one of the BEST-buys in the market and even in hardwares at present ! GO figure mate !

I agree with the speed factor.. It depends on what firmware that you.. some of the custom built firmwares are so fast and stable.. Slowness is more to do with windows than HTC....
I have not used w960i but screen of htc has been a disappointment from what had been expected ( should have had a vga. A vga in this handset would have put this one miles ahead of any other handset in the market now. Still a few miles ahead with out it ) |

Exactly! HTC released the TyTN II with limited driver support for the multimedia capabilities offered by the Qualcomm MSM 7200 chip. Currently the phone does not support any form of video or 3D acceleration.
If you want a device that is suitable for both business and multimedia then the TyTN II will be a good choice once HTC releases complete drivers with a future firmware update.

Although the TyTN II's camera is 3MP, the photos it produces are just marginally better than those from its predecessor, the TyTN. Actually, looking at the photos I shot with my old JASJAM (i-mate branded TyTN) and comparing those from my new TyTN II, about half of them turn out worse, mainly due to the autofocus missing to focus on infinity when shooting landscape shots. It usually picks something in the vicinity even if it is in the corner of the frame. In fact, switching down the camera to 2 MP mode many times gives better results, almost as if HTC took a 2 MP camera and added 3 MP software interpolation to it

I blame immature drivers. I believe Microsoft is using this device for the development of WM6 "SE" (Second Edition). Hopefully they will give feedback to HTC on this issue. I don't think Microsoft wants HTC to make WM6 look bad due to poor quality drivers.
Anyone who has tried out an old Linux distro on a modern PC will recognize the performance problems you see when the video driver doesn't support the chipset on the graphics card and falls back to either VESA or framebuffer mode. Same problem with video on the TyTN II; instead of using the video acceleration available in the MSM 7200, it falls back to raw framebuffer mode...
