w880i too quiet |

I remember reading somewhere that the w880i was quiet, but I thought that was referring to speaker volume when listening to music etc. My wife just picked one up on fleabay and when she calls me, I can hardly hear a word she says. She has tried calling me on various phones, both mobile and landline. Has anyone else had this problem, or did she buy a duff phone?

Thanks, but I'm not interested in hacking the phone. |

so, an option would be to change the earpiece in a service center or get the phone replaced. though let's wait for other members to answer

true, thats a common problem with se fones imo. u have to place ecactly to your ear, otherwise its really crap to hear the other person. i noticed it since k750.

Why should the earpiece be changed? There's nothing wrong with that - the phone isn't picking up the user's voice properly. It sounds like she's calling from a long distance landline
Maybe I should just clarify: she uses the w880i to call me, and no matter what phone I use, I can't hear her voice well. The problem is her w880i's mic.

Well, my wife and I have used a few SE phones in the past (w800c, w810i, k800i), and this is the only model with this issue. She doesn't have another phone to try her SIM card in. I guess we'll have to look for another phone for her...

@shane: now i get your idea. the mic could be blocked by dust. if it's under warranty, use it

My godmother got a W880 after some nasty experience with a Samsung and she's never been happier with a phone, that's what I'll tell you. |
