Is the low light capability any better or does the image still slow in low light and does it seem to snap pictures any quicker ? ,thanks, log.

No, the image is still quite slow in low light, but the pictures are snapped quicker and better in my impression. Another thing that I have noticed: I can actually hear the auto focus mechanism and it can be felt also when the camera is focused.

I've noticed that with my (green tint) camera since the f41 firmware.

Hello everybody !
Sorry for the delay, here are the answers:
The repair took 10 days, there was no software altered during repair so I guess that they simply switched the camera modules. Unfortunately there is no additional data here, they wrote in the warranty "camera replaced" with date and that's all.

Romania, the service is not lightning fast, but the other phones I've got they handled them good. There is a company that services 90 % of the phone malfunctions in all the warranty period.

I'm going get my camera module replaced in the uk under warrenty. My P1i housing is a bit messed up so would they be able to replace that under the same service?

I don't think so, maybe you will have to pay for the case parts that will be replaced.

@tom how are you going to go about replacing the camera unit? Did you phone up your provider and complain to them?

Hey, I got my P1i from O2 and inside was a P1i support phone number, phoned that and SE gave me the number for a service centre in South East London. I wonder if O2 would replace it though. Might give them a call tomorrow, it says if your phone develops a fault after 30 days you can take it to an O2 shop and they can swap it over. Has anyone any experience with this?

Tom.

@ tom

Yeah i'm also with o2, north end of london tho...personally it is not a big issue for me, but if they will replace it why not ask for the replacement given it is "not fit for purpose".

I dont have insureance on the phone although given that it is a mechanical fault it should be covered my the warrenty. I might look for the number you said see what SE have to say.

Post back with your call to o2 this will be interesting. Although i wonder if o2 will only do a straight swap because to be fair it is not a swap we are after, we want a new camera module...if we do a staight swap then chances are it could have green tint again :S

Hey 5nak3,

I'll let you know what they say tomorrow. I was going to post the number but I've managed to lose it between phoning earlier and writing this post!

The company in London is called Fleet Communications, and they said the camera module would be free under warranty, and to ring back next week when they have some modules in. Their website is: http://www.fleetmobile.com/

It would be great if the local O2 shop would sort this for me, as it's now been acknowledged as a real hardware defect and London's an hour's train journey for me, the problem being whether the O2 staff in my local shop will know about this, I very much doubt it!

well i have the p1i box i will search for the number you mentioned, if you can let me know what o2 say that would be great.

I will have a word with SE with any luck and see what happens. Obviously o2 sorting the problem will be the best solution as o2 is closer to me than any service centre i know of aswell. But like you say it is unlikely they will know about the problem, and even if they do and do tell you they'll exchange the phone, they will most likely change the whole phone which means you have a chance of getting another green tint handset because as far as i know o2 do not do the reapirs.

Or what they might do is actually take the phone and send it off for repair to SE, that would be very nice of them Well i look forward to hearing from you on this situation.
