Hi all

I have a friend whose W910i is saying operation failed when she is trying to get into the messages.

I am just wondering if a master reset with make this work again?

Cheers in adavnce

yeah let him try master reset but I think a file has been corrupted inside the firmware,so in worst case he should go to a SE center to rebuild the FW

Try a master resest, if the problem persists it might be a shonky handset.

Take it back, it didn't work for me. At first it did, but then it started resetting itself and not allowing me to enter multimedia or games.
I chose the branded version due to the price and am eager to get it flashed.
Good luck! Let us know.

We had a customers do that with the Games and Applications folder, master reset didn't work so we swapped it.

These things happen, not all things can be fixed yourself.

Just go into settings, general settings, phone master reset
Do not forget some things will be erased!
Good Luck! I had to take mine back and the new one has already been updated through davinci. It works ok now but still changes equalizer settings to normal or megabass everytime I start it and it gives me wrong info in the media manager, and also resets when using my hp-82 headphones......

Mine shows the operation failed message when I try to go into Games, Applications and when I try to install new Java files. Also, SenseMe no longer opens. I tried a master reset, and it did nothing so I'm going to take it to a Telstra shop and see what they say.

I also have a friend that cannot access her messaging without getting the same error message.

Has anyone fixed this with SEUS?

Thanks.

My wife's phone did this - her inbox, sent items, new message etc suddenly returned "operation failed". She had the Vodafone branded version.

We didn't try a master reset, but we did try SEUS, since I suspected there was newer firmware anyway - happily I was right, it updated, and after that the problem was gone - but so were all her messages. On the plus side, I don't think she lost anything else.

It's a big fault that shouldn't be present on any SE phone, let alone practically all of them - shame on SE. If it happens again (meaning the bug clearly hasn't been fixed, despite the update) then we'll be taking it back I think - it's not acceptable.

We done a back up on all her media and contacts and then done a master reset which sorted it out but she was a bit upset that she lost all of her messages.

I thought SEUS would save her messages after updating but it looks like it wouldn't have made a difference.

It looks as if the message database gets corrupted in some way, and that's why they can't be retrieved - it wouldn't back up my wife's either. In fact I seem to remember the option was suspiciously absent in the PC suite, as if the phone was reporting there were no messages (or in other words, "Operation Failed").

Doing the update - or resetting, or just reinstalling the firmware - probably just recreates the message index, starting at 0 again.
