Hi all, it's my first post so I hope someone can help! ;o)
Just got my w910i, installed PC Suite fine, installed Media Manager fine, but Media Manager won't run. I just get a message telling me that Media Manager has encoutered a problem and must close... yadda yadda... do I want to send an error report to Microsoft etc etc.
Any ideas?
I've tried uninstalling, rebooting, reinstalling... without joy.
Thanks lots! |

Well, I have no problems on Vista.
Try getting the one on SE's website. If it doesn't work, then I think you'll just have to stick with the PC Suite. It's not that bad, anyway.

Hi, thanks for taking the time to reply. It's the installation on my XP machine that's not working.
I'm happy with PC Suite, but that doesn't utilise the SenseMe feature, which is what I want to use.
I've already tried installing the one from the SE site, but I get the same result.
I've fired a message off to SE, so when (if) I get a reply I'll update this post.
Thanks again.
Any ideas in the meantime though, give me a shout! ) |

Have you installed .NET 2.0?

Hm.. there must be something that's blocking it from installing. Try turning off firewall, antivirus, etc. Maybe it will help. |

Hey, yeah I've got .NET v2 installed, but I'm just gonna try the disabling of Antivirus and Firewall route.
I'll let you know.
Thanks again, really appreciate it. |

The Media Manager software has some prerequisites. These include:
1) Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 (XP only since Vista installs w/ v3.0)
2) Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Language Pack (for non-English OS's)
3) Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable 2005
4) Windows Installer 3.1 (this should get installed the first time you use Windows Updates)
5) QuickTime 7.2
If any of these components is not properly installed, this could prevent the app from launching. I recommend uninstalling the first three in the list completely using Add/Remove Programs as well as uninstalling Sony Ericsson Media Manager. Then, reinstall Sony Ericsson Media Manager. It should recognize that some of the prereq's are missing and should install the proper versions automatically. Also, make sure you are logged in with full administrative rights when you install and first launch the app.
Otherwise, the app should initially launch in Music Mode where it will be looking at your 'My Music' folder. If you have a massive music collection in this directory, but a slow processor or not a lot of RAM, you could run into some problems (ie. if you don't meet or just barely meet the minimum system requirements, don't expect the app to work [well]). You may also want to disconnect any USB devices or other peripherals or memory sticks before launching to eliminate any potential conflicts here.

Your problem with the installation could have many reasons. I can only recommend you to try to clean your registry and uninstall previous versions of SE software. I never reinstall the O/s because I believe there must be a different solution. In this case, it might take a long time until u find that solution and you might as well...
Another issue, I was not able to find the SenseMe feature in Media Manager ! In fact, my phone's SenseMe function only displays the songs that came with the phone and none of the songs that I downloaded onto the phone by copyign directly to the SDcard (with that USB adapter).
Within Media Manager, there is no mention of Sense Me at all !!!
Any ideas? |

I have uninstalled the above 2 installations, and reinstalled Media Manager. But I am not sure why Media manager unable to detect phone connected to PC?
Please help..
Thanks!

I had this problem; I think it might have been caused by a large music library, since after I moved my music from the music folder, Media Manager started working correctly. |
