why would you want to get rid of it? Its a faster data speed
o2 have probably just updated their network to support edge. if your phone is edge compatible, you'll receive it

Yup, Welcome iPhone...
In use it's no quicker than GPRS but you can't turn it off, unless you don't want to send MMS or get on WAP?

GPRS is up to abot 50-60 kbps whereas Edge is up to around 384 kbps

Hmmmmm...
I've been using EDGE on Orange for a good few years and on the phone you can't really tell any difference, it's only when you connect to a lappy/PDA you see a difference...
EDGE speed depends on the MCS that are in operation, and wether it's a 4 or 8 time slot EDGE network, I guess for the launch of the iPhone O2 will have launched and 8 slot EDGE network, but not knowing the technicalities of the O2 network I don't know, but in theory EDGE is capable of 473 kbps (59.2x8) but as we all know, what published and what's achievable are very different indeed!
I'd go back to HSCSD if if supported MMS...

I have been getting the E for edge symbol on my n95 as well and after using gprs for years i can definitely say edge is much faster. Btw i'm on o2 as well. |

Hi all
Does 02 not have HSDPA as that really is much faster even in it lowest form it is 1.8mbps nearly 6 times faster than 3G or EDGE. If you were with T-Mobile you would shortly see 3.6mbps on your N95's and 7.2mbps if you have a device that supports it and that really is fast, in fact faster than most peoples home broadband.
