3's Skypephone
10:33AM Mon 29 October 2007
3 and Skype have confirmed the world's worst-kept secret – that they will release an internet handset together.
The Skypephone comes with integrated Skype, allowing users to make free calls. The free calls are Skype-to-Skype calls only and free Skype instant messaging is offered as well.

Hi all,
I was invited to attend the launch today in London but unfortunately was not well enough to attend. But the nice people from 3 sent one to my home address and i must say i am very impressed with both the small neat handset and how well both Skype chat and Skype calls work.
Up to now i have only really used Fring over WiFi and i must say i am very impressed by the voice call qaulity that 3 have on their Network. I will post a short review and pictures later. But if some one is looking for a small compact fully featured phone and to be able to use Skype calls anywhere it is a great solution, although their is no Skype out there are all lots of other 3 exclusive services more later.

Hi all,
Well although this phone reminds me of a Nokia it is actually made by a company called amoi, and designed by both amoi and 3 and is also a Skype certified handset.
It has a really nice tactile feel and has a nice rubberised feel except for the keypad but even though the keys are small the also have a good feel and feedback to them. What really has surprised me is the amount of functions that are built into this device as well as it's price. Including a 2.0 mega pixel camera. Below are some pictures that where taken with the Skypephone of another one still in it's box.
As it is free on Contract and only £49.99 on PAYG i also must admit having never really looked at 3 there pricing is very competitive and the amount of additional services they have is also quite amazing in fact a bit of an eye opener really. As it is not only their X series that benefit from the add on services, which besides Skype, Windows Live Messenger, Google or Yahoo search engines, Google Mail, Movies, Music, Sport and lots more. To be honest their is just too much for me to mention here and what i suggest is visit here for full details on the Skypephone and all the services it offers.

It might also be worthwhile visiting

To see just what they are offering both price wise and also all these additional services as it surprised me and they even have a N95 free @£27 pm on a 18month contract that has lot's of these services included. Now if only they get either the N95 8GB or the E90 when my contracts end in December and January i could well move to 3.

@all
I must be honest i really am quite stunned by the quality of this little handset, it really does have great build quality and all the features you would expect from a mid range phone. Also even though the Skype app works over the Network and not WiFi the quality really is very good indeed. I am also very impressed by all the other services 3 have all with virtually one click access even the 2 meg camera takes decent pictures IMO. 3 are actually the only Network i have yet to use and having said that my next contract could well be with 3.

indeed, when i talked to dogmann yesterday via skype, the sound was very clear, according his statement, better as with fring. of course it depends on the reception too, but a great solution for those, who are skype freaks

Skype Phone Sells Out
3 has been caught out by high levels of demand for its prepay Skypephone, with many stores selling out of handsets within days of its launch.
The prepay device, which allow users to make free Skype calls in exchange for a minimum monthly top-up of £10, is 'flying off the shelves', according to staff in 3 stores across the country.

@goldenface
I have two here but can't sell them as they are pre production units for testing and evaluation only. The quality of Skype calls really is quite amazeing and it really is a fully featured handset voice calls over the 3 Network are also very clear. I find it hard to believe that on pre pay this is selling for so little, it's worth the money just for the Skype functionality alone IMO.
