Something i just noticed thats new about the fw or at least i didnt notice before is that when sending an mms it gives you the option of resizing pics that are to large to send. This is something that would piss me off before, because i would take a great pic of something and not be able to send it because it was to large a file. Now with resizing the pic it goes out, albeit in a lesser resolution.

Nopes, the resizing of images sent via MMS is a setting in the MMS-account (see Messages menu -> More -> Settings -> MMS.) It has always been there (except for some branded version of the firmware).

Creation mode. Or something like that.

so any updates on the mailbox performance???

Yes. It went from about five seconds to three seconds when opening an sms the first time now. A little less after that. (I think it skips the list- view on the way, and that helps a bit).

Thanks!! I never knew that.
I have only recently unbranded my phone, so it may not have been there before, but nice tip. Save me resizing manually

..if you remembered to backup the gdfs, it should be as easy as just clicking the "gdfs" tab, locate the backup, and click restore.

Hi guys,
I have a question for those of you who upgraded.
If you backup all your contacts and SMS, MMS from the previous firmware, are you able to restore them on the new firmware?
I'm not talking about the apps which I know you need to reinstall from scratch.
Thanks.

You're supposed to be able to restore a backup of the same firmware version or to any later version - so it's possibly going to work, entirely dependent on what sort of funny tests are done on the backup program. It would be logical to use the organiser version, of course, but...

...What about using something like zyb? ... and if you just want to backup the contacts, you can back them up to a vCard file on the mem- stick from the contacts- app. Also, there are 3rd party mail- apps that can make external backups.

Thank for the quick reply (you gotta love esato).
you're right for the contacts.
It's mainly for SMS ans MMS really.
I'd be gutted if I was to lose them.

Now here is another fix that comes with the new FW.

Before the new FM. when you revieve an SMS or MMS from contact that is not listed in the phones contacts, the mobile phone shows you only the number of the sender. now this is normal. but if later on if u add that contact to your phonebook, that addition will be reflected on the saved SMS. & you will see the sender name instead of the number.

before, all SE smartphone just keep the number on the SMS sender even after adding the contacts details later. although that this is not an issue in all other SE non smartphones.

i'm glad that its fixed on the smartphones now

My P910i does that, reflects any changes made in the contact details when viewing the list of received SMS's.
