... yes, except X1 is really not all-in-one / best of everything ... this is getting on my nerves for some time now - they clearly have the technology to make what we all want, but they are "stashing" the features and are putting out devices that are crippled on pourpose. Yes, maybe they saved some money that would go to R&D, but all they are producing are some mediocre devices that do not excite anybody in the way P800,T68,T610 etc. used to do ! ...and then when X2 comes along, it will feature 5 MP cam ( OH MY ... ! ) taken from K850, and for X3 they will add state-of-the-art cover for it ( YUPEE... ) Lame if you ask me ...

For the benefit of those not necessarily interested in the G900, Ive pasted below Eldar Murtazin's main points about the forthcoming UIQ devices:
'The G700/G900 opens the refurbished range of UIQ smartphones – the models to come won’t be this unsophisticated and will also boast various form-factors. Before we jump into 2009 the market will see at least 6 more devices of this breed, while in the year of 2009 they will complete this line-up, and by then it will feature ten offerings or so. Sounds interesting, right?'
'I want to stress this again – all senior offerings in this line-up will be significantly different from these two. To be more precise, the G700/G900 has no widget panels, no custom applications, no enhanced player and also lacks a couple of other fascinating features. It is sort of a transition between feature phones and smartphones. I’m sincerely hooked by the products that will come to replace the G700/G900 in 6 months’ time – they won’t be much of a revolution, but nor is the G700/G900. ' |

What does "no custom app..." means ? Is he saying that we will not be able to install 3rd party apps or what ?

He may mean preinstalled 3rd party applications such as google maps will not be included, such that what comes preinstalled on the G900 is only what comes with UIQ 3.0. He may also mean that the java structure the G900 uses is not greatly compatible as to allow customisation using any java app. However, he is saying that future models will have such additional apps.

Oh boy... I just had a vision of how long G900 threads will run up to 
P990i: A mistake, a curse and a disgrace  So I lowered my expectations and settled for a P1i. I couldn't keep my expectations so low for a long time so now I have an HTC Touch HD |

I'm saying goodbye to SE for ever.
WindowsMobile sucks and looks like sh..t on the screen....
And it may be worse - it's a bit possible with the whole X1 promotion right now, separate webpage... It's such a crap to kick the UiQ and favour Windows. Pathetic..

If you'll read his later reply, you'll see that Paris is a direct competitor to the latest Nokia phones.
I do disagree with him that the X1 has no competitors, however, the fact still remains that Paris is the answer to Nokia's top-range Nseries phones.

I mean, I will not be able to transfer my programs... And Windows....
If SE follows this pattern, I may really leave it than. It's such an inconvinient way of thinking. I mean, each maker tries to SUPPORT customers needs and habits too, like address next generation of devices to people who buy it and like it.... And are attached to it in some way.

Of course X1 has its competitors, but there are no direct competitors. Same story with the G700/G900.

Its all just a waiting game till the announcement then I suppose. PK and other such Esato members used to hint at or indicate when the next potential announcement date would be (although most of the time it was the usual 'soon' response), but theyre not here now. I suppose the most likely date is one of those close to the P1 anniversary day. I personally dislike the way SE representatives are so naiive. They never tell you anything new or even informative. They just parrot fashion whatever SE said in the ad- you could ask them any random question- does the G900 have Xenon flash? Theyll just say something like- The G900 camera is one of the latest in built cameras featuring the new touch autofocus technology blah blah blah'. They never tell you what you want to know. |

maybe SE is able to MATCH Nokia, but what I don't se is SE being able to match it's own devices in many aspects of usage ... well ... today, I am officially entering the fourth phase of my journey with SE . After Love,Denial and Anger, I am now beginning to find everything absolutely hilarious and it won't be long before "I don't give a sh.t" phase :-)
