well, there's a UIQ logo in the top left corner, so it's maybe just a sample for that presentation

Yeah but it does look somewhat similar to all the P5i concepts we've been seeing and PeterKay has been saying they're accurate-ish. WOOT!

Only the resolution is QVGA. The screen size is quite big.

QVGA screen in a 520Mhz CPU! wow this has a very positive feedback in terms of benchmarking performance! imagine that this could even let the fastest Symbian phone atm to eat dust speed wise

QVGA screen for me is okay, what's more important was the performance, visuals are always second

IMO it may have been "Maria" that has QVGA and not P5i.

New UI means new screen resolution. AFAIK SE won't use QVGA screens in their high-end smartphone devices anymore.

The upcoming high-end devices have large screens so its a wise move stepping up from QVGA.

Well for the last 2 years, SE has always announced one phone the week of the CES show. In 2006 it was the W810i, then 2007 it was the W880i, does 2008 bold well for Maria W980i to be announced in the first week of January?

Well there is definitely a pattern there, what with Maria also being a music phone too.

CES 2008 Jan 7th - 10th.

@razec

Of course 520mhz looks good and would be the fastest Symbian smart phone to date but then the current OMAP 2420 has been around since the N93 first came out.

Next year we ae expecting to see an advancement to OMAP Series 3 chips that offer 600mhz to 1ghz so 520mhz will not be the fastest at all. I really do hope that SE go for the OMAP Series 3 chip as not only is it faster but it is also more power efficient and has better graphic abilities to.

I have stumbled upon a Sony Ericsson patent that talks about a location sensing mechanism that combines GPS, cellular networks and even Wi-Fi networks! Check it out http://www.cellpassion.com/Default2.asp?id=308

What do you guys think about it? When would we see one?

Im sure the P5 will have the OMAP 3 chip, due to its announcement being delayed and then rumours that it was due to hardware changes.

It was also said before the proposed November announcement by some on mobile review that the P5 would be outmatched by moto and nokia offerings by the end of 08. So id imagine SE cancelled the announcement to make hardware changes to keep up with moto and nokias secret weapons so to speak.

All speculation of course, we will have to wait until the official announcement.
