@Dotminstry,
Yeah, my G900 is perfect for ME. I was given a Bluetooth GPS one Christmas and don' need built in GPS etc. They are yet to launch a N96 beater. Paris would of been it. Maybe the X1 is it? Shame about the OS IMO.

How ever this sounds no good for SE at All.

I just hope SE are not going same way as Motorola ...

All I know is we have waited far too long to see no results. I like their products, but if they dont offer me what I want I will simply have to look elsewhere. So they are effectively voiding the brand loyalty of their customers by doing this. Even Motorola are at least trying to stay in the game. Love it or hate it, at least we see something coming out of there for everyone. SE seems so single minded. To gain marketshare, you need to cater for the entire market, not one taste, not one price range, not one feature set, but every one of them. It doesnt matter if they churn out so many devices if they are all low end, because its like giving 1 person loads of choice (but that person is only going to buy one anyway), and ignoring the others who want something else. Its a shame too because both the G900 and X1 are very close to being what I want, but each with crucial discrepancies.

Question is what can other company offer me when C905 is out. I mean It's dumb stay with same brand if they can't offer you that you want..
But C905 is my next phone if no one else is coming up..
Most important is learn from theirs miss

Well, this has me thinking. If Nokia has (and by all accounts, it seems they will) an 8 MP cam phone one day before the release of the C905, and their solution is superior...I have no choice but to get theirs.
I did it before when I viewed the N95 as a superior product to SE's offerings, and so as much as it may pain me, I can do it again.

Since Elder has seen all SE products coming out till April 2009 and was not impressed, SE might be in trouble.

I agree with this completely. I went from my k790a to my n82 simply because it was the best camera phone out there at the time. If I had heard more good things about the k850, I would have been all over that simply because I love SE phones. I just wish Nokia had SE's UI. S60 & S40 are just boring to me. |

From Eldar:
"...Or, how are we supposed to think about the rumor that Sony doesn’t trust Sony Ericsson with a gaming-centric mobile device and will rather create it without SE’s help? Obviously, there is a grain of truth in this statement, but that’s about it – what they are talking about is not a mobile phone, but a gaming console armed with VoIP functionality that will allow for calls within WiFi networks....

from my observations, sometimes it's better off not knowing. |

it is like what samsung did for korea market
they made some digital camera tht add on phone funciton
remember samsung claim to have leap frog everyone with their 8 or 6mpx phone when everyone just at 3mpx but of course..those who remember those phone will notice tht is a piece of brick.
like sony is just making phone as an add on to PSP
where by SE will make....having game add to a phone as add on |

Oh great, my K790 is already 1.5 years old since I skipped the K850 and now Eldar says this about the C905 -
'This is the first 8Mpix handset that will hit the mainstream, but unfortunately it’s likely to follow in the footsteps of the Sony Ericsson K850i. It seems that the C905 has it all, but at the same time you can’t get rid of the feeling that something isn’t right, something is missing. Over at Nokia they are probably jiggling right now, while preparing their “Hello again!” operation. Their offering with a mind-blowing megapixel count is set to launch right before the C905’s release day and it will start shipping immediately.'
Wonder how long SE will take to get a decent new camera phone out, i.e. one that isn't overpriced and doesn't under perform. |

Hmmmm... I agree with many of the posts on the last pages and it does worry me that SE seem to have lost their direction a little.
But on the other side I consider myself a SE fan since the T68i. Eventhough I am a pretty much spec focused person I dont even consider Nokias or Samsungs which currently may be offering the superior product.
My football time has been crap for 6 years and I still support them I know this comparison lacks, but after SE has offered me the perfect design and functionality for almost 7 years I will not jump ship just because they have messed up and currently more like followers than leaders.
Just got myself the P1i and eventhough this phone might only have old hardware i prefer it over anything Nokia can offer, because for me it has a certain beauty design and SW wise. Have had many other phones in my hands but never like em...
Of course I want SE to be succesful but sometimes I like the thought of not owning a Phone everybody is running around with (Iphone nokias etc)
I also constantly critisize my football team but this doesnt mean it will ever be possible for me to like any other team.... I guess thats what being a fan means... whether I like it or not I am stuck with SE
(Sorry for the long OT but since everybody is blowing out there opinions I thought I might as well )

Is eldar an SE insider or a nokia/SE/samsung/Lg combined??
I really cant believe that nokia will immediately start shipping their 8 mp cam in the market just after release.Same goes for samsung.
Eldar's comment: "Furthermore, their overly strict information security policies, when even the maker’s employees don’t know what’s going on, make things even worse."
Now whatever he is saying is a contraction to this statement. No doubt Eldar is furious. |

^ I think he meant that SE employees don't know the general strategy because information flow inside SE is controlled.
Nokia launch announcements and shipping dates have a smaller gap than SE so they still have time to prepare their camera flagship and release before SE.
Somehow SE always manages to have some nice features in their flagships but cripple/miss out on some other ones and generally degrade the whole experience while Nokia seem to have much better rounded features.
Case in point is SE deliberately crippling the camera module and interface in W980, they even dropped the FM transmitter but forgot to drop the price accordingly.
So SE phones always come across very poorly in value for money comparisons. |
