too bad...i really like the timeline view from the 029 FW and other SE fones..

@sniper
if what u mean by media section is the camera album, it doesn't show the info as complete as the timeline view..only months, not dates...
but i'll get used to it

Had a strange thing with the battery yesterday. At about 7pm, the battery was at 35%, then when I went to bed at midnight, it had gone up to 44%!! Its now down to 37%......

no one seems to be posting if they are having same problems with manage messages menu. I have mentioned a few times can we get some clarity if this is just me havin the problem? This could be another bug/

My manage messages shows that i have no messages in any of the folders. SHows 0b despite me having messages in most folders.

This is the same for the phone card and memory card i saved messages to before the software update???

What to do?

So... I'm a bit of a Bluetooth junkie. I live with my Motorola HT820 Bluetooth Stereo headphones on. My previous phone was the k800i, and I found it pretty much perfect with the later firmwares - particularly where audio & video streaming and Bluetooth were concerned. I upgraded to the k850i and while I've been impressed I have noticed a couple of little quirks with the latest firmware. Interestingly, most of these were quirks in the early firmwares of the k800. I would have thought they would have learnt from version to version, but it looks like a few things have fallen through the cracks... I've noted them below:

Bugs
* The R1EA031 firmware still has some Bluetooth audio multi-tasking issues that the early k800 firmwares had (that were fixed in later firmwares). When you are listening to music through Bluetooth headphones, and then click on a streaming video clip in the web browser, it kills the Media player completely. With the k800 it would fade down your music, play your video clip and then once the video clip finished, it would fade your music up again. With any of the k850 firmwares it stops your original music completely (no fade down) and then once the streaming video has finished the music does not resume. In fact, the media player has shut down completely.

* Overall, listening to music via Bluetooth and doing anything on the phone is more bearable with the R1EA031 firmware, but doing basic things like typing a message or scrolling through the menus is still noticably less responsive compared to the k800 doing a similar thing.

Improvements over previous firmware
Here's an couple of improvements with the R1EA031 firmware to do with Bluetooth audio implementation:
* When listening to music in a Bluetooth stereo headset, when you receive a text message the music fades down, you can hear the phone play the message sound (through the phone, not the headset), and then the music will start playing again - no fade back in as with the k800, but at least it fades down. It's a good start!

* Phone warning and error tones now play through any connected Bluetooth headset - previously they did not.

Keen to hear other people's thoughts about Bluetooth audio and the k850. I always liked the way the k800 faded your music up or down between things. I'm sad to see that go in the k850. Also, the glitch between regular music playing and switching to streaming video is a pain. It's top of my wishlist for the next firmware upgrade.

@tonchy: Nice effort with the Pros and Cons! That obviously took some time, and it is very well done. I think you deserve a thank you from at least someone for that! Cheers!

I have a W910i, but I use this thread more to hear about the updates because it is a more active thread and the W910i and K850i updates this time around were almost identical. So that is very useful to me because i haven't yet updated and was wondering whether I should (when the update becomes available to me).

you are welcome, it did take some time but if it helped someone i am more than rewarded

@ belmondo, as tonchy have said, 038 is branded fw. you can recheck your fw version as I told you to be sure. If it is 038 that means it is branded.

@ tonchy, great work there!

thanks

I read your pros n cons..nice job..

Anyway..wat do mean by "32 hours of heavy usage"?? It seems pretty suprising to me..or rather very shocking..coz u said the battery was still 45%..

So..Explain dude...

Btw..there's not much difference between w910i's battery & k850i's..is it? Some difference in battery life coz of sensor n stuff is assumed..

Thanks. Let me ellaborate a little more on the battery life. When I was on 037 I had to charge my phone every night if not my battery will be completely drained by next day in the morning and i would have to charge my phone at work, so on average my battery was lasting about 30 Hours. This was caused not because of the firmware but because i use Push Exchange ActiveSync, which keeps my outlook email, calendar and contacts syncronized all the timeso i am connected 99% of the time. With this new FW, about 34 hours have elapsed since my last full charge and i still have 35% left. So when I say heavy usage I mean normal usage (10-15 calls, 3-4 emails, 3-4 sms, 3-4 pics, 3-4 games,10-30 min of music) + Exchange ActiveSync.

Not happy at all with the new firmware, seems to have brought about new issues with no noticeable improvements.

My DS980 bluetooth headset barely functions now, the play/stop button and track skip buttons do not work any more, and the unit does not show what song I am playing any more.

Phone doesn't feel any quicker than R1DA.

HSDPA option is available on O2.

Seriously thinking of complaining to SE about the DS980 issues though, as its made it practically unusable.

Where is R3A!?!?

@Milenko11
Looks like you may have to take your phone into a SE center or ship it if Davinci didnt solve your problem

@Touchy

I've noticed that the automatic keyguard no longer comes on when viewing photos in cybershot mode. Mine used to go black and no buttons would turn the lights on but when I pressed star>right softkey the phone lit up like it had been unlocked.

I really like the new thing in media player when you press up or down when viewing videos or searching through songs! Just wish it was smoother, looks about 3 fps!!

Thanks for that. Hopefully it'll stop a lot of the repeat posts about the same bugs.
