It was suggested on another topic that myself or SE-Naz start a topic for owners and prospective owners to share information, ask questions and get some answers!

I'm happy to take and post pictures of anything that may help answer specific questions about the UI, the vodafone branding or whatever.

I guess I should start this off then. I've had a couple of problems with my K850i since I got it yesterday lunchtime. I had a slight problem with the shutter, it didn't got stuck and didn't respond for a short while. I had to go into the service menu to sort it out and then when it did respond it only half opened. Not good. The stickiness seems to have disappeared though now. Has anybody had this problem?? I'm eager to know if that's a design fault or a production fault.

Also I have a current problem with the media browser in that it white screens (but without the white screen) and restarts every time I try to open the photos section and it doesn't find any of the files on my M2 card. Also not good but I'm taking it back to get it replaced because of this.

Best tip I can give for the moment is on operation of softkeys.

I have found that the best way to get a guaranteed response from the touch sensitive keys is to hit where the screen meets the bottom half of the fascia.

So you want the centre of your finger to be over the seam where they meet, with a fairly light pressure. No need to jab it hard. You can even lightly glide over it and it will work just as well.

Ricky - this might be a stupid question, but have you tried the media bit without the M2 card in? Maybe it's the card thats causing the issues rather than the phone...

Same here, almost a light slide over the very edge of the screen works best. At first I found it difficulttoo get a response so it took some getting used to but I don't get any misses now.

Also to mention............

Im available too for any questions about the handset and features...

Jus to make one thing clear when taking a PIC make sure you fingers are not covering any of the sensor or close as a PIC doesn't come out clear.

Cheers

One thing I've noticed on the new K850i (which I picked up this morning from DHL) is that the status information has now changed. On my K800i you pressed the 'down' softkey on the side of the phone and it would display. On the 850 this now controls the ring volume. Any way to change this - i'm thinking that there's not a way.

rickster2kuk,

I just created a shortcut to it in my shortcut menu (the one next to the make cal button) not quite as quick to get to as the k800 was but still easier than going through all the menus

Cheers

Phone does not have a dedicated play/pause button.

I have a blue K850i
My firmware version is O2 R1CA029.
My volume keys do not bring up the standby information like the K800i did.
Themes included on mine are:
Clarity
Colourite
Crystal
Laser Precision
Luminosity
O2 Theme

@ curacao

No play/pause button I'm afraid, but the left-hand softkey is directly into 'Media' (at least it is on my Vodafone firmware). It's not quite the same but this is a Cybershot phone and they obviously feel it doesn't fit in with the newer UI.

@ indup

The networks that have the phone out already (O2 and Vodafone currently in the UK) have their own branded firmwares as far as I can see. On top of that there will be a generic firmware. Each should have slightly different functionality, e.g. the O2 firmware could use the lower zoom/volume button for ring volume and the Vodafone uses it for status. My Vodafone branded K850 uses it as a status check. I would think that is the same as on the firmware as it is on pretty much all other phones.
