Hi all,
I'm writing with a query regarding a Chinese GSM Mobile.

My brother in law brought back a mobile phone for my girlfriend from his recent trip to China.
It is a Chiva V6102, a Nokia clone, branded as inokia. It is equipped with a 1.3mpx camera, touchscreen, handwriting recognition, double sim capacity and media player.

I've included a few picture for you to have a look, notice the Windows XP background to make it seem like the phone runs windows CE ^^ :

We are having a problem with making it work However, and i'm not sure whether it's a problem with the phone itself, or simply an incompatibility between the phone and the network. I have a manual, but it's in Chinese (Cantonese i imagine).

The problem we're facing is that, when we manage to make a call from it (most of the time we get an error message : Call Forbid) the voice on the line is all messed up, it is impossible to hold a conversation, and eventually, the phone drops the call.

Texting seems to work alright, but it's on and off, at times it will blank refuses to send the message.

If any of you has any experience of chinese mobile phones or any comment on this, don't hesitate, i'm clueless as to how to make things work.

Apparently, the girlfriend has managed to make it work, sort of.

on the third floor of her office block, it works, elsewhere not. The phone is quite unreliable really, i suppose it has to do with a weak antenna for the receptor.

"what does Full service" mean"?

i haven't got a clue, mate.
