164597 moves and still purfect. it's actually better than my mates one whcih is brand new. i think after time it softens up and is easier to use. my sister has teh same phone and she tries her hardest not to use the joystick "just in case", but her joystick feels like someone's dipped the phone in crude oil. why not use the best feature of the phone.?

the joystick work damn fine for me coz i use to take out and do some cleaning over the joystick.

compare the last phone i use with joystick alcatel 701. it work perfect for me.

dirt might make ya joystick slow or not functioning at some direction u pressed. try to open up and clean the joystick. u will find it good as new again.

if the blue thingie comes off, you can just use cyanoacrylate glue (superglue/crazy glue). Just put a tiny bit. It worked for me.

If you loose the blue thing I've seen replacement joysticks on ebay for like 12 bucks. So get one if you have to.

unfortunately, my joystick on the fone is startin to fail on me as some others have said, sumtimes i hafta press the joystick down twice before it responds. this is also the case when i try to press towards the left and is a problem when it comes to composin melodies on the fone especially since there isn't an option in the melody composin program to go straight to the beginning.

oh well, i still love the fone!

just for your info, used the fone since April 2002 and have a joystick counter of 150000.

I also hav the same prob. I hav to pres down twice or a little harder than usual 4 it to respond. I guess its better to hav the down direction problematic than the whole damn joystick fail right?:-D Oh and ive been using my t68i since september and my count is 160000+

I haven't had any problems with mine and I've had it since July, and well over 200,000 moves, not sure how many total since I flashed the firmware with R5D007 22,000 since then.

Hi I have a solution.

I had a problem with my t630 joystick to. It did not respond at all loads of times.
Well I ran to the store bought WD40 (loads of other stuff you can use that to like crackling volume controls.).
You open your phone:
this is dutch put it contains excelent pistures http://gathering.tweakers.net/forum/list_messages/942139
the top is the hardest to open.
With a screw driver you just lift it up a bit. Now SLIDE the top of.

once you know it is easy.

For the rest remove the keyboard and the joystick button. Now drop a couple of drops onto your joystick and press and play with it for a bit so the WD40 can sink in. Clean up all the mess on the side so that it is good and dry.
After 20 minutes put back together your phone again and for me it worked like a charm again. Like it was new.

PLease note that I am not responsible for any broken phones trying this out. I think it is safe and for me it worked perfectly. But be carefull with spilling wd40 as it is conductive. Also do not USE the CAN spray. Spray a bit on a stick so you can make small drops and put that on the joystick....

Good luck....
