No PSP or Bravia handsets for UK
10:59AM Mon 24 September 2007

Sony Ericsson Bravia and PlayStation PSP-branded phones will not be introduced to the UK in the foreseeable future, the manufacturer has claimed.

A handset under Sony's Bravia television brand was launched in Japan, but Sony Ericsson's senior marketing manager, Richard Dorman, said it will not reach UK shores. 'The Japanese market is a bit more advanced. It is treated as a fiercely independent market, not necessarily something that fits in with the rest of the business,' he said.

Despite the consumer awareness of the PlayStation PSP brand, and the obvious benefits for Sony Ericsson in utilising it, Dorman added that a PSP-branded phone was not on the manufacturer's agenda. 'It is not a focus for us with the UK and western European market at the moment. I've seen our road map for the next 12 months and neither of those two handsets will feature in it.'

Me and my other 2 brothers all have PSPS's and love going head to head against each other. It's quite boring playing by yourself, you know. I can only imagine how fun and "sell-able" a PSP branded handset will/can be. This is really sad news.

I dont know why you people were surprised. The way SE is going at the moment, its asking too much to roll out a Bravia screened phone and a PSP one. Its unreasonable to even think that.
W960 will sell for 600$ so you can well imagine how much a bravia screen phone will cost or a PSP one. Its just not feasable yet

Its only Bravia and PSP branding they're talking about. It doesn't necessarily mean there wont be any DVB-H handsets or good gaming phones for 2008.

DVB-H handsets are essential to have, well in 2008 it will be.

Can't wait myself.
