The output is still poorly pixelated on movement and detail (particularly foliage), colour is as bad as the still camera, and tbh no single camera phone on the market yet has video suitable for displaying on a TV screen.

Pixelated? Have you really seen a N95 video on a monitor/tv?

The pixelation I mention is in reference to viewing the video on a computer screen. If you can't see that you are blind.

And based on the quality of the output, and my experience with similiar quality video from other digital cameras I have owned, I deduce that the quality on a tv monitor will be poor. TV Out can't improve on the basic video produced by the camera.

To my way of thinking, and the main point I was making, is that while SE may be lagging behind Nokia in video recording, both their efforts are gimmicks and not truly mature features. You may as well argue about which had the better camera, the SE T610 or the Nokia 6220; The SE was technically better, but both cameras were just toys, ie gimmicks, not worthy of being considered a Digicam.

Likewise, I would never use the slightly better video of the N95 as a reason to buy the N95 over the K850. As far as I'm concerned neither of these handsets can be considered as having useful video recording.

Oh really... It sounds like you're discussing whether the video captured by N95 is pixelated on a computer / TV screen. But hey, maybe it's just me......

Still N95 has no business in this thread. It's about K850.

listen buddy, this thread is about whether people want vga Video on K850 or not, and Mario tried to argue that people should get an N95 if they want vga video, so I gave my reasons why I would still happily buy a K850 even though it doesn't have vga video. I am arguing no phone on the market yet does useful video recording. K850 in my view doesn't need VGA recording as VGA recording is still just a gimmick.

So our argument is directly related to the the thread title, if you weant to talk about the K850 other than Video, there is another thread for discussing the K850.

Without wishing to get involved in an uninformed fashion here guys, the SE rep (I assume that's what he is) in this Youtube vid clip (at about 1min30) says the phone shoots video at 30fps and it's VGA ....

I was there that day. He's wrong. Made a mistake. The two prototypes he had both had QVGA video recording as with the final product.

"N95 video slightly better than K850"? That's in itself is more than "slight" exagerration . The K850 video is already worse than those taken by the 2 years old N70 (in terms of picture/color and sound) let alone anywhere near the quality of N95. If you want to deceive yourself to make yourself feel better, then go ahead and knock yourself out.

If you want to deceive yourself that the crappy pixelated video of the N95 is useful, fine knock yourself out. I don't really care if the K850 is better or worse than the N70 (though in my estimation, comparing similiar content video streams from both phones, the K850 is slightly better, though not by much), my point is that no phone produces useable video, so to me it's no drawcard or any great acclaim that N95 can record vga video.

Until video is recording at significant kbps it's going to remain just a gimmick. Who will be first to introduce quality video to the market - time will tell.

I will concede that Nokia have done a great job with the N95 video, compared to other efforts by mobile manufacturers, but there is still too much pixelation, and colours are reminiscent of cheap cmos censors.

Hi Max,

The only person that is deceiving them selves for a change is you as whilst the video recording abilities of first the N93 and now the N95 only just falls short of DVD quality. Which is backed up by the many happy users of this facility including Steve Litchfield of All About Symbian that shoots all his video podcasts with a N93.

Rather than us kidding ourselves maybe you just need a better monitor that can handle the quality of these images as to say it is only slightly better than the K850 is like saying a Ferrari is only slightly better than a Fiat. Well at least you have a sense of humour however deluded you may be.

Marc
