becuase it doesn't work. ASk SE why, I know not. My guess is that it's because the shortcut trick is desgned for operator type branding functions, and the items in IFS are never subject to branding.

check that:
1. you have copied a working menu.ml file and icons to the tpa/user/other/menu/live (if you created the menu/live folder in "other" using the phone, make sure you created it in phone memory not memory stick.)
2. you have deleted all content in the tpa/preset/system/menu folder before copying in the shortcuts.
3. Open the shortcuts in notepad just to view them (not edit) and check that the paths are correct. If they aren't don't edit them in notepad, just close the file without saving and use se_shortcut again.
Are you getting an error when you try, or is it just showing the normal menu (not the one in "live")?
Its working on k750 thanks max_wedge Your the best.

I've tried this twice now, and killed my phone twice too - so I must be doing something wrong!
I downloaded XS++ 1.6.8 to my desktop, and created a folder on the desktop called files_to_upload and put in all the icons as described in the readme.
I then connected my phone (W810i) to XS++, and it all got detected OK. I ticked "Customize Filesystem", selected the "Way In" method (first one) then went to "Start FSX". It put in a bootloader and said to disconnect and reconnect the battery then reconnect phone pressing 'C'. Did that, and it said phone restarted successfully, but then nothing happens. If I click "Stop FSX" then it warns I might damage the phone... the only other option is "close". Whichever I do, my phone will no longer start even after removing and replacing the battery!
Luckily the SE update service seems to resurrect it if I tell it to continue anyway, but I must be doing something dumb. Do I need to flash a different filesystem before this hack will work? Some more details on using XS++ would be great!

I'm not sure, I recommend you post the question on the XS++ thread at se-nse.net
Post the XS++.log file.

just put back an original K810. Delete any icon files in the menu folder just to be tidy.

Yeah Max I think you're guess is right... its' like way to operator customizations.
@Xenon
Is your phone branded? Or was branded? Cause those files were of your operator (I guess). Do you remember what were the icons?
And what exactly doesn't work with original menu.ml? Icons cahnged, phone doesnt turn on, .. what? |

Xenon, sorry I did mean K810 menu.ml!! AS pedrops says. what doesn't work? You still have the same icons, or the phone doesn't start up... etc?
