Guys and Gals, as the header says...
1 is already out. 1 is rumoured to be out soon.
So, as most of you are keyed up about all matters mobiles, gadgets and techno jargon, which 1 would you lot go for?
PS For this discussion, lets assume that the iPhone WILL have 3G

The way i see it is one is a Multimedia smart phone with some business abilities the other is a business focused smartphone with some multi media abilities. It all really depends on what the users needs or expects to be able to do with their device. This is why i still don't believe there is an ultimate convergence device as of yet and personally never believe their will be for that matter.
It's taken me a long time to reach this conclusion and whilst it is merely MO it is what i believe to be true. Hence for me a Nokia E61 for all my data intensive tasks and an 80gb iPod for all my entertainment needs. I just don't believe the manufacturers want to give us a truly converged device as it is IMO well within their capabilities but they just don't seem want to deliver what many of us really want IMO.
Marc

If you want a hassle free phone with multimedia features, the iphone is the better option. But if you like to have specific apps, play most video codecs, customise your phones features, hsdpa then go for the tytn2.
imo the tytn2 wont end being a easy MOBILE PHONE for day to day use. I'd say iphone but I doubt it will have 3g. |

as McEnroe used to say... "You can't be serious"!
If you want a serious device grab the TyTN II, if you're an ipod fan and just want an ipod that makes phone calls then get the iPhone!
surely no further discussion is needed

Thanks all for the replies.
Positives and Negatives for both sides.
Unfortunately the way I'm seeing this fight is from a media / fashion perspective.
People will buy the iPhone purely on the basis that it looks good, looks stylish... and is different!
Also, the Tytn, overall may be the better "device", but the iPhone has some truly groundbreaking technology in it's interface.
I guess we'll all have to wait till next Tuesday to see if there are any aditions to the UK iPhone. If not, it will be a bit of a dissapointment!

It wont be different after a few months because every tom dick and harry will have one! And as you say it will be bought because it is 'cool' and you will be 'cool' if you own one. (supposedly)
I certainly wont be getting an iphone but an seriously considering a tytn II

but whats the point of having a fantastic interface if it doesn't interface you to stuff you really want or need?

no contest, serious feature packed phone, or an overhyped ipod phone

Have to agree that this is a mismatch if ever I saw one.
Other than the fact both phones will not come cheap, they share no other genuine similarities.
If its a phone with features that you are after, the Iphone loses hands down.

I couldn't decide, so I bought one of each. I've had the iPhone for awhile, just rcd rebate card, here's the link if anyone else here needs it http://www.apple.com/iphone/storecredit/
I really like the iPhones screen resolution, ease of viewing photos, but not easy to share them. Also magnifying web pages is handy as well, but the connectivity of the AT&T 8925 is a mile better. Hope camera is good too, will know on monday when the AT&T (HTC) arrives. Would be in a heavenly state if I could get the features of both combined into one. |
