lol for once you guys in Europe get the same crap we get in north america... no upgraded features for you lol
this is an interesting and arrogant move.. i love my iphone.. it has it's flaws.. but at the launch price is the same as the launch price over here.. you guys should be getting it for the same 399 as the US...
it's overpriced and not ideal for the UK without 3g..... interesting how this will play out... they'll have to keep it "hacked" for it to spread...

correct, its mentioned a few times now.
in summary, Jobbs thinks its consumes too much battery but maybe next year in the next model when new and more efficient chips come along

Wonder what the deal is with keeping your old number, if it will be as easy as having your PAC number (i think its that right?)?

There is another question i have which is i have always been led to believe OSX has much better security and is one of the reasons that there are no virus outbreaks on Mac's. If this is true how come so many have been able to break and crack all the iPhone locks and add functionality if as they claim it runs OSX?

meh in all honesty as a mac user it's not really more secure... there's just no reason to attack it... if osx was in more households then probably people would go after it more...it's more secure cause it's "under the radar"
appletv was hacked in 24 hours to install osx on it lol
the iphone was hacked instantly to run third party.. of course apple will probably lock it down again soon....
but no matter what happens i believe the "kernel core" is never put at risk

Hi all,
Actually just looking at the Tariffs again they really are not as bad as they first seem as if they include unlimited Data & fair usage is actually approx 1GB approx and also includes free unlimited WiFi usage at certain Hot spots that does bring the monthly charges break down to be quite reasonable IMO.
Obviously having your push E-mails over EDGE is not going to be quite so painful re the download speed but and if used primarily for just E-Mails it is unlikely you will go over your allowance IMO. On the other hand IMO Web browsing really will have to be mainly used over WiFi or may be painfully slow especially if you are visiting data intensive sites.
Being retired and not very well i really don't get out that much so don't really know just how viable using Hot spots for free WiFi would be for most maybe others could comment on how they think this may work or not.

@Marc.. the edge speeds are really good on the iphone.. obviously not 3g fast... but it's pretty good when matched up with the iphone's safari browser.. over here on rogers.. i'm able to stream tons of content...
not sure how o2's edge is but ... it won't be "too" bad i think

Wifi is fine, if you are static and in the city. In london city there are loads in some areas and non in others! also this is no good if you are moving on a bus/taxi/walking as they have short ranges in between all that concrete.
BUT if your moving -
HSPDA gives me up to 1.8mbit/s (N95 P1i HTC TyTn II) up to 7.2in the future
and
EGPRS (edge) i believe is up to 236.8 kbit/s (iPhone) zzzz |

^ This is why I think t-mobile HSDPA + iPhone would have been a match made in heaven.
Alas, it wasn't to be. EDGE now seems sufficient for it.
