Hi guys,
O2 said they would roll out their 'unlimited' data plan to existing customers. Is that on Edge only or will it apply to 3G as well? |

There is no distinction. Whether the data is used via EDGE or 3G its the same. 3G customers pay no more than anyone else so it applies to both.

There is another question i have which is i have always been led to believe OSX has much better security and is one of the reasons that there are no virus outbreaks on Mac's. If this is true how come so many have been able to break and crack all the iPhone locks and add functionality if as they claim it runs OSX?
There's no security features in Mac OS X to stop anyone installing legitimate native applications. Those 'features' are new to the iPhone.
All the hackers have done is remove Apple's 'artificial' locks on installing native applications on the iPhone, and SIM unlocked the phone for use on other networks. No security features have been broken.
The OS X security would setp in and prevent malicious programs from being installed or spreading virus-like without the users permission.

Hi JoolsG4
Thanks for the quick response as was wondering what was going on, no one have any opinions about the fact 02 may be forced to Sim unlock the device if requested by the customer?
Also how would this be done as i can't see 02 advising people to use the various solutions available on the Web. Can Apple just supply a code the same as we unlock most devices now or how would this be achieved?
Marc

They need to consult the 'clear english' guide. Who on earth counts how many webpages they use?
Why dont' they just set a Mb limit and keep it simple.

pages i view on mobile devices can be anywhere inbetween 80Kb and 800Kb! so yes knowing apple with the way they calculate how many songs you can fit on an ipod, i'd say thats based on a 80Kb website...

I don't think Apple chose the limit, O2 did and I think they certainly used the number of pages using the smallest website available as you sugget. |

I think you'd be furious if you forked out all that money for this phone and a 3G version appeared 6 months down the line.
That is a whole sack of money to invest for one device for 18 months. Just imagine all the goodies from other manufacturers that might appear in that time - 1 year is a long time in mobile tech.
