Thanks guys for the great work.

I do have a couple of questions:
I have a s500i, which the update service says is a k800 fs so I'm hoping this works.

I'm trying to get the reminder tone so can modify it, so my default_upgrades.xml file looks like this:

-------------------
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<customization>
<file-operations>
<file-op parse-mask="fa" op="copy" source="fs/tpa/preset/system/sound/reminder.3gp" dest="usb/backup/fs/tpa/preset/system/sound/reminder.3gp"/>
</file-operations>
</customization>
----------------------
does that look right? That's the whole file, I deleted all the other stuff, right?

Copied it to /tpa/preset/default and restarted the phone. I don't know if anything happened.
I don't know how to do step 7. I tried in FAR and I don't see a USB folder, I tried in windows and still no usb folder.
what am I missing?

Best Regards

S500 probably uses tpa/user instead of usb. So use tpa/user/other/backup (create a backup folder first in your phone memory's other folder) rather than usb/backup

Thanks max,

I'm trying to understand how this process works.
can you explain to me a little bit how the folder structure should look in the defaults file?
For example, in FAR when I double click on FS, I see this:
ifs
queue
system
tpa

so in the default xma file:
<file-op parse-mask="fa" op="copy" source="fs/tpa/preset/system/sound/reminder.3gp" dest="usb/backup/fs/tpa/preset/system/sound/reminder.3gp"/>

does that look right or do I need to change anything, besides what you just described about the backup folder?

best regards

you need to put your code within the code tages (click bbcode at the bottom when you click reply, a page will come up with info about bbcode - look for the "code" tag and how to use it)

Code:

<file-op parse-mask="fa" op="copy" source="fs/tpa/preset/system/sound/reminder.3gp"
dest="tpa/user/backup/fs/tpa/preset/system/sound/reminder.3gp"/>

ok all done.

so do I need to put fs/ in front of all the paths? or do I just do like you guys and start with tpa/ ?

no, tpa/user/backup is the folder that everything will be copied to. You can access this folder via the usb cable, so you can then copy the backup up files to your computer.

Maybe you should use tpa/user/other/backup (then there will be a folder called "backup" in your other folder)

Can the new XS++ 3.0 BETA NOW backup not just the GDFS & the file menu structure?

Thanks.

No, backup not possible yet. But you can browse the phone fs, delete and replace files with XS++3

Not to go up against you ... but I think it can, unless I'm reading this wrong. I do have a Backup folder with a 103KB file named "K790_35220801xxxxxx_GDFS_BACKUP.bin

I do hope that I was successful.

that's only a backup of your gdfs. It will get you out of trouble if you burn your eerom, but the actual phone FS (internal file system) cannot be backed up with either FAR or XS++ (db2020)

Thanks very much - the batch file didn't work at first - I think it's because the directory I ran the file in contained spaces. However, it worked well when I used the suggested backup directory, though I think in the instructions the line:
"replace all occurances of "c:\\k800-backup" with "" (empty string)"
should read:
"replace all occurances of "c:\\k800-backup\\" with "" (empty string)"

as a last step I also replaced all occurences of '//' with '/'

One problem though - the phone did not copy the 'ifs' directory - is this normal for everyone else?
