Esato News
LG Electronics today announced plans to launch 'LG Viewty' (Model: LG-KU990), its very first professional-level high feature camera phone, destined to steal the spotlight. LG Mobile, which led design innovation in the mobile handset arena last year, is once again turning the tables on mobile phone trends by expanding their product category to introduce series of high feature phones. The 'LG Viewty', the first handset representing LG Mobile's new feature-oriented category, combines ultimate functionality with sensational style that one can expect from LG Mobile. The name 'LG Viewty' has been chosen to encapsulate the enjoyment of viewing and sharing high-quality photos. This is made possible through the large LCD screen and extensive functionality of the camera phone. Users of the 'LG Viewty' will be able to enjoy a complete mobile digital imagery experience. Boasting its 5.1 megapixel camera with manual focus and image stabilizer features, the 'LG Viewty' takes high quality photographs with endless possibilities to allow users to enhance their images through the extensive editing features of the phone. The sleek handset, whose size defies its amount of features, introduces world's first 120 fps video recording feature in a mobile camera phone. A single-click connection to YouTube allows users to share their very own film moments with others on the internet. Dr. Skott Ahn, CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company says "This is a very exciting time for LG Mobile. The LG Black Label Series and our collaboration with PRADA have cemented our position as an innovator in design and style. With the launch of the new 'LG Viewty we are now also proving our commitment to technical enhancement and look forward to taking the feature phone category by storm." The 'LG Viewty' which will be available for buy from October, will first be revealed during the IFA 2007 in Berlin on August 31, 2007. |

LG released an interesting camera phone last year, the KG920. It has a 5MP CCD sensor. Initially it was extremely expensive but today I think the price is approaching the reasonable, about USD 500. When GSMArena had a shootout between this phone, the SE K800i and the Nokia N73, one comment they made was:
LG KG920 shows at the same time better resolution, correct colors and lower noise levels. Although the phone manufacturers don't publish the specs for the sensor used in their camera phones, photos like this make us think that KG920 have a sensor with larger physical dimensions than the ones used in the phones, maybe this is the same sensor used in some low-level digital cameras.
I have seen the same comment made about another 5MP CCD camera phone, the i-mobile 902. It is not true that the sensor is larger in either of these phones, it is purely down to the higher sensitivity of CCD sensors compared to CMOS sensors.
So, boys and girls, if you want a 5MP LG phone, don't buy the KU990, buy the KG920.

i also think 120fps are a lot..though i own a canon powershot which has fastframe video at 60fps and when you're recording fast objects or people (or if you have a mad dog running after birds...) you will have fun recording and especially watching it on tv or the pc in slow motion! that's the story behind high frame rate. |
