Loose back panel on P1i anyone? |

Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone else with a P1i had encountered this - the black panel that sits around the camera (not the battery cover - above it!) is loose on one side of my phone. It's like the glue has come off or something - the panel comes loose and if I press it down there is some give - it's not rigid like it should be.
I had another P1i (accidental double-order - long story) and didn't have this problem. I rang O2 today and they are sending a courier with a new one to my door tomorrow to do a swap! Awesome!
So, anyone had this? Attached is a picture of the problem.

No sign of this on my phone.. yet anyway!
Hopefully your story is just an unlucky single case and isn't something we are going to see with all of the units over time.
Will be interesting to see if anyone else has had similar trouble though. |

I've had a prototype for almost 4 months and no problem like that.
Touch wood that th retail unit I get today doesn't have the same issue as yours.

Oh ****.
I got the same problem with my new P1. You mean they allow the warranty exchange for that?!
The left gray panel is slightly 'clickable', which means the casing is not 100% tight fitted.
Help!

Mine has the loose camera surround and has had from new. I'm not sending it in for replacement though as everything else is fine. I might get one with a loose battery cover or some other annoying fault or the service department might put a scratch on it. It's loose but it won't drop off. |

Wise choice. But would you not rather have a new warranteed one for free? I will call the service centre later and see what they have to offer. If they reject... Another annoying defect may be the loose cable plug...

They will not replace it for a new handset unless it is less than 28 dyas old. They will send it away for repair which can take 4 weeks. Its not really worth it.

Just to let you all know O2 swapped my P1i with the loose rear panel for a new one which is fine. If you've got any hardware defects you can ask for a replacement, shouldn't be a problem as long as you are within a month of your signup date (although I'm sure haggling/complaining will get around this!). |

Oh my, I just realise what your photo of your phone shows. The whole casing is dropping off. Mine is different, it is the silver part that is clickable. Not as serious as yours.
Well my service centres said I need to bring my phone for assessment, but no one on one replacement.
Well, it depends if they will even change a new casing or not.
Off to mission I go...anyway do you think I should go?

I have this but unfortunately I live in Canada so I need to send it to the warranty department. |
