Hi all, im getting a W880i tomorrow. but the mic is faulty? can anyone tell me what might the fault be? its not water damaged i know that. any help appricated

Ah sorry, jus a feeble suggestion on my part, but I do have a W880 great phone, you'd need to spk to sum1 a bit more technically minded than me about that, although I doesn't seem many people take the W880 apart, if you need to I do know that there is a screw or 2 under the walkman sticker on the front, and if you remove that you are likely to need a new sticker (they're cheap on ebay) and then I think 3 on the back.. but theres a thread about taking the phone apart... well the cover off anyway, sorry I can't be of any more help

If it's the same design as other recent SEs, the mic will be a small black box on the phone's mainboard at the bottom, and if giving it a good clean with a toothbrush doesn't help then it's probably knackered.
It will need a new one soldering into place and it looks like a tricky job unfortunately

Cheers Sam, if i cant fix it then at least i have a part time solution in my head and thats to use a headset! lol! seems a common fault. a few on ebay with same problem!
