Do you really think Brumby and his bitches need the extra money? I didn't think that stop smoking products were taxed. However, being a Labor government they'd probably tax everything. The only reason there is no blanket smoking ban is because they're raking in the $$$.
Oh well. There is still a blanket smoking ban in my room.

Before the ban on smoking in public buildings, I used to ride my bike through the city without once smelling cigarette smoke. Now I can't get away from it. I tell you it doesn't feel nice to be riding along and suddenly finding half my lung capacity gone. I'm glad I'm not a bike courier in the city, I'd be coughing my guts up all day long.
It seems that with the ban I'm actually exposed to more 2nd hand smoke than before the ban!!

I get the feeling you don't like smokers?
I don't mind people smoking, but I think people who don't want to be exposed to it shouldn't have to isolate themselves just to get away from it.
Overall I probably agree with no smoking in public places.

Well, just to add my two cents worth, I feel that smokers are entitled to smoke as much as they like. The problem is when their smoking affects the people around them. I used to dislike smokers a lot and at that time I didn't have any friends who smoked. These days, I've got friends who smoke and though I'm concerned about their health, I'm pretty much neutral about them lighting up when I'm with them. Most of them are really decent about it and would find areas that are away from the crowds to smoke in. Some of them actually feel bad about affecting others with their smoke. I actually feel sorry about them having more and more restrictions on where they can smoke and that in a way, it is actually kinda unfair to them I guess.
Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most. |

You know what I hate?
They always go 'the government is being like the Nazis because they are stopping us from smoking'. They never think that the 80% of people in this world who do NOT smoke don't want their lungs destroyed by passive smoking.
I find Smokers to be an aggressive and intolerent bunch who never take kindly to being told what to do, and have zero respect for the rights/views of non-smokers just so long as they can abate their addiction!
