just received my p1i and i'm extremely happy with it - except for this green tint on the camera.

The quality of the camera overall is about what i had expected (its not a cybershot phone) but this green tint is rubbish. Hopefully it can be fixed in a future software update. The fact that the proto p1i's didn't display this defect leave me hopeful that it is software related as i think its unlikely they use different camera modules(?)

I am getting more and more frustrated because of the green tint. Check out that green tint on a wooden surface. It is horrible.

And it is not just the green tint. I think there is a blue tint on the other side as well. There is a sample on a white sheet.

Or maybe mine is worse than yours.

SE when are you going to solve this problem?

Blimey, that does look bad! Mine is generally just the green tint on the rhs and I do find it annoying. Apart from that, the camera is brilliant. When will we have the first proper firmware update?

Thought people may be interested. I looked in P1i and W960 Camera firmware.

C for yourself

Not really happy about this. No wonder its such poor quality for 3mp CMOS!

If Hopefully manufacturers will wake up and give handsets the quality parts they deserve, instead of crap sensors with even crapper software upscaling...

Because the platform sends bogus messages while charging, that is why!!!..But why this change of heart?..We sense a charger connected, oops, we will not shut down after all!!!..*********************** UI BASIC, HOLD YOUR HORSES

hi, everyone, i am from dominican republic and i'm experimenting the same problem too...

@gbrooks: could you explain me the thing about the camdriver code??

i have done something in compensation for the green effect, and it's very simple: until the problem is fixed, take all of your photos with the phone in vertical position and just use any program to crop the new "bottom"of your image.

it wont be a 3.2 megapixel shoot, but it will alleviate your " green tint blues" for the time being until the next update...

just my 2 cents for the day....

it means that SE have bought the camera sensors from Mteck instead of using top quality ones e.g. Sony.

Yeah, because only Sony sensors are ok... Canon and the likes also use Sony sensors ofcourse.

The fact that they aren't their own sensors doesn't mean they're bad. Perhaps they were even better then what they produce themselves? (No idea here, but to immediately conclude the camera would suck because they use parts from another manufacturer.

Ah well, the camera is pretty decent. Could be improved (especially green tint and noise) but overall it's ok.

@gbrooks: this is something i cant understand. why 's made this, when they can actually put their Sony camera sensors. are these sensors cheaper than sony's?

why would you like to use someone else's arm when you have yours? it's the same!

MtekVision has received first samples of MV9331 which is garnering interest not only from domestic but also from foreign cellular manufacturers
guess who....

Personally, given that my last phone was the p910, i think the camera of the p1 is fantastic

But then i don't have a dedicated digicam either.

I wonder if anyone have talked directly with SE representatives, and if so - what are their response and solution?

This is a really heartbreatking defects of otherwise a nearly perfect phone....

Well, from what I read it seems SE acknowledges the problem and said a fix is due in the next firmware update (whenever that will be).

Wonder what else they change in it
