the joystick on the n73 falling off? thats crazy, thats unheard off. untill this date. der has been no nokia, with joystick falling off problems or it being stuck problems. only problems with joysticks is the s.e k750. The camera is great on the N73. Have you looked at this amazing review site: http://www.mobile-review.com/review/nokia-n73-cam-en.shtml

why on earth did you get it then, if it doesn't suit what you want? were you misled by the cybershot branding? there's a lot of photo threads in here that shows what the phone is capable of, and what it's not. what can i say? you made the choice, maybe you should've done some proper research before getting it in the first place?
too many threads on this already, what do you expect honestly, mate? i don't know why, but this thread reeks of 'why can't the k800/k850/whatever can't match the n95' threads...
I got it because I had to renew my contract. So, I went with what I thought was the best the option having read every review I could. My son was also in need of phone so, at the same time, I gave him my old W800. Perhaps I'm to fussy, if the camera lived up to my expectations I would be happy. But it doesn't. And, in hind sight, when I look at photo's taken in the reviews I can't understand why the supposed expert reviewers didn't comment on the JPEG compression that ruins so many photo's. To make matters worse the K800 is so cheap to buy now that I couldn't sell mine and buy something else without having to spend more money. And, theres not much to choose from. i.e. I've seriously looked at the N73 but it's camera performance would also drive me mad as well as the joystick breaking off. So, all I can do is hope SE release a F/W update that improves these things or keep an eye out for a model that better meets my needs. Unfortunatelty, the K800 seems to be closest match for me at the moment.

you need to DPY flash your k800. my old k800 was very fast, had good picture quality, etc, etc, etc,
the only thing i didnt like with my k800 was the heal (lens cover).
buy a k810i instead. much more comfortable to work with, and fits your pocket much better, (and is much more beatiful....he he)

I had the K800 for about 2 weeks . . . I really enjoyed using it, however when I saw how the cam captures images . . . I was quite disappointed considering coming from a K750 !

I think using the term 'love' about a phone is just a tiiiiiiny bit disturbing.....
But I get (roughly) where you're coming from, I'm pretty pissed I lost mine!

JPEG compression? Did you forget to set it to Fine or something? I've had no issues with pictures destroyed by the compression. The overzealous noise reduction turning grass into a green mass and hair into plastic - yes, but not JPEG artifacts.
Sure the image performance at 100% isn't as good as the K750, but if you take a 3 MP picture from the K800 and scale it down to 2 MP, it kicks the crap out of the K750/W800 camera.

wrong, the N73 camera is amazing
Hahaha, are you kidding? Compared to the K800? Try taking a picture indoors. Or of something blue. Or at night: http://phone.gbsfm.info/n73/k800-vs-n73-night.jpg
The N73 camera is crap. I know, I own both.

I suggest you rub your eyes and take a deep look at those pictures taken with N73 again (just look at the smudged trees for instance in the first picure - not to mention the redicilous yellow color of the car) |

You know, I do understand that mobile camera phones will never match a true digicam. But, I'm so tired of looking at pictures taken with this phone to find jagged edges everywhere and poor focus. My W800 just didn't suffer from this so it's fair to expect better from the K800. Sure the W800 was grainy in poor light but in full daylight it was great. And, it didn't produce photo's whereby outlines of objects don't look real. I have run tests between my old W800 (now my sons phone) and the K800 and the W800 usually wins when it comes to viewing photo's at full size on the screen. If just this one issue could be resolved I would be satisfied. All SE need do is change the JPG compression a bit. It's not like memory is an issue as I'm sure most will have bought a memory stick.
I am looking at what else is available and may well sell it if something else wet's my appetite. The biggest problem is that I am a fan of the SE interface. |

we could expect camera driver mods for K800/K810 soon, don't worry as the image problem was just a software-oriented issue. everything about the focal length, aperture, shutter, sensor and lens reliability were well engineered by Sony Cybershot Division

Well I too have just got a K800i and all I can say is that it is much easier to use than my old M600i, which I hated!
Love the K800i, does everything you need, pretty basic but does it very well.

I feel the same way about the SE interface. Fortunately I think SE still has an edge on competitors when it comes to camera quality, but I agree with you about the compression. It's a poor compromise SE have made. It makes the K800 just a little better than the N73 (instead of the huge lead K750 had over the N70)

Try swopping phones with your son,if he hates it too then you have a problem.
