I think the subject says all. I was so happy with my W800 (which I have given to my son since getting my K800). I thought I was making a good move when I upgraded to a K800 - WRONG! Now I'm stuck with my K800 for the next 18 months or so. I really regret getting this phone. The only improvement I can see over the old K750/w800 is the larger screen and multiple alarms. The rest of the phone is a complete disappointment to me. Here are my reasons:

1) Picture quality - I know the W800 wasn't perfect but it didn't suffer from too much jpeg compression. I've mentioned it before, but I find so many of the pictures I have taken with my K800 suffer from "jagged" edges. This is especially noticeable on silver objects. I am yet to find any photo taken on my K800 that I would consider exceptional - yet I have several from my W800.

2)Sound quality. Basically, it is pathetic. Sure, I had modded the acoustic drivers on my W800 but the K800 has no volume and obviously suffers from some noise reduction when playing at full volume. If you listen closely you'll also find it suffers from the "hissing" that plagued the W800 until we hacked the acoustic drivers.

3) Auto Focus - Try use it on a silver object - It won't focus.

4) Loud speaker - It is hopeless and distorts. It is not loud enough to use hand's free in a car.

5) The OS is noticeably slower.

6) The flash is disappointing. I'm sick of taking photo's where by the flash fires and results in a dark photo simply because there was some artificial light.

7) Lens cover - let's not go there.

low earpiece volume - this seems to inflict all SE phones.

9) Memoy stick is not 100% hot swappable. Remove it and reinsert it and then try to launch a java app that is stored on your memory stick.

The unfornuate thing is I can't find any phone that I could replace it with. Which is is a strange situation. I dont't see anything in near future that interests me either. Let's face it the K850 is ugly and i'm not going to buy it without a proper lens cover. There you go - I think I have now vented enough for one night - so good night.

Wish list for SE - fix the camera quality on the K800 so that it lives up to the claims SE make. i.e. it is a true digicam - It's not - I can provide heaps of photo's that show how the JPEG compression ruins a photo. All you need do is take a couple of photo's of a silver car and you see how bad it is.

what i would do is, sell the k800 get your money's worth out of it, and go back to your old phone or buy a diff phone with the money you got for your k800.

Stop tking pics of silver objects.

On a more serious note, can't you exchange it?

If the shop doesn't take it, try your luck on the marketplace on Esato for a swap.

why on earth did you get it then, if it doesn't suit what you want? were you misled by the cybershot branding? there's a lot of photo threads in here that shows what the phone is capable of, and what it's not. what can i say? you made the choice, maybe you should've done some proper research before getting it in the first place?

too many threads on this already, what do you expect honestly, mate? i don't know why, but this thread reeks of 'why can't the k800/k850/whatever can't match the n95' threads...

The loud speaker of W800 was also hopelessly low in volume, so its not just the K800.
W800 also suffered with some sort of NR at high volume

I got it because I had to renew my contract. So, I went with what I thought was the best the option having read every review I could. My son was also in need of phone so, at the same time, I gave him my old W800. Perhaps I'm to fussy, if the camera lived up to my expectations I would be happy. But it doesn't. And, in hind sight, when I look at photo's taken in the reviews I can't understand why the supposed expert reviewers didn't comment on the JPEG compression that ruins so many photo's. To make matters worse the K800 is so cheap to buy now that I couldn't sell mine and buy something else without having to spend more money. And, theres not much to choose from. i.e. I've seriously looked at the N73 but it's camera performance would also drive me mad as well as the joystick breaking off. So, all I can do is hope SE release a F/W update that improves these things or keep an eye out for a model that better meets my needs. Unfortunatelty, the K800 seems to be closest match for me at the moment.

I agree on the loud speaker but not the NR. All the same, the K800 is noticably quieter through the loud speaker - and yes I have compared them side by side. With the K800 the NR is very noticable. I never noticed on my W800 even with my modded accoustic drivers which increased the volume.

I know a lot of people complain about photo quality on phones, but most of them can't match the quality of a dedicated digicam, so why not use that instead? I use my digicam mainly and my W810i is just there a back up camera.

If you are not happy, then do what the previous poster said and get the phone you want on Ebay or something and sell the K800 on.

i see. but then even with a firmware upgrade, how much do you expect from the phone's camera? being a previous owner of the phone, i find the quality good enough since it's after all a phone first and camera second.

look on the bright side however, mate. i don't think you can get any phones with a 3.2mp camera which is better than the k800.

I am an k800 user too. Though to me the quality of the cam seems to be ok (for a phone), but the low volume speaker drive me nuts. SE still have not get it for ALL these years!
