I think the W960 is drop-dead gorgeous, but neither it or the P1 are quad-band. Why does SE continue to release tri-band phones in their high end lineup?! Enquiring minds (in the U.S.) want to know.

I think the W960 is the king (previously the W900), also as far as price is concerned the w960 is also quite a king, however I've had enough of this P990 rubbish, as soon as the p1 comes out im going to buy it and sell my p990, better camera, better RAM, smaller, and not as ugly, as far as the w960 is concerned, i'll leave that for next year, im gessing its gona be quite dear on your wallet, by next year im hoping the price would have dropped.

i still am holding out on upgrading my p910i...was supposed to get the p990 last week but then saw the post about no newer firmwares. so i might be down to p1i or w960...i haven't used a walkman phone before, how good is the walkman player compared to the standard player of p990 and p1i? also, won't we be able to download and install a custom media player on par with the walkman player?

as for the 2 phones, i like the w960, but i also like the p1i and i use my phone more on the business side and don't listen much to music lol...but my fiance does so i think i've found a way...get both p1i (for myself) and w920 (for fiance and replace her n80)

4GB M2 card is only 40GBP... and will drop. I don't care too much about the built-in 8GB in the W960. The missing HSDPA is the real turd.

Blaze blaze!~

Does your service provider offer HSDPA?! Do you have it provisioned for your account NOW!

is 1mbps differencee - 2.6mbps REALLY gonna bother you THAT much?! Frack its NOT like going from HSCSD to class 4 EDGE which is painful, but your STILL going to downloading webpages, streaming audio, video.

HSDPA is NOT a NEEEEDDDD for THIS. Its a JEWEL!

Are you going to be uploading QVGA video to a blog using the W960i?! NO because the hardware is NOT capable of it. No word if the P1 is capable of it EITHER!

STop whining and DEAL with it. You've made your decision on the P1i get that & enjoy it. If you're torn between to see how you would USE the either device daily and you'll end up with one!

@Prom1

Sorry i don't no where you got your figures from but they are way out

3GSM maximum Data 384kbps

HSDPA is currently 1.8mbps and about to rise to 3.8mbps and then on to 7.2mbps

which is 6 x as fast now and should be 12 to 24 times faster by end of 2008 at which time the products will be a year old and just under a Year old and unable to take advantage of these speed increases and even if they could which of course they can't the don't have powerful enough processors or graphics to see the improvements. All of the Networks are working hard on rolling out and implementing HSDPA for Data and Multimedia as this where the revenue growth is for them.

I really think both that both the P1 and W960 are really great devices but fall 10% short of what is needed.

Great info ... I was refering to the 800kbps peak (real-life around 386kbps for) UMTS + the 1Mbps for HSDPA. Not sure what is holding Europe up, BUT I thought their networks where ahead of th world. Rogers AT&T in some areas launched 3G+HSDPA for 3.6Mbps ... ppls already downloading at 2.2mbps on 4 consecutive tests back to back. Aircard or usb tethered phone.

I still see no HUGE usuage/need for end users, unless its Cable/DSL modem replacment for globe trotters & geeks like us alike.

PS anyone here LOVE the SUmmer Soltice?!

The W960 feels smaller in the hand though because of it's rounded shape.

@jimster 71

which phone would you buy if money was not the question.
looking at other things like the sze, keypad, looks etc, features, screen

is the screen in the w960 different to that of the p1?
in the sense is it scratch proof?
