Hi folks,

I've searched through the Esato forums for an answer to this, but everyone seems to be just as confused as I am.

I have a SonyEricsson K810i, which I got from O2 in the UK. According to the updater, I have the latest version of the phone software. MMS and GPRS all appears to work fine generally, as does email and text messaging. However the "send to Blog" option doesn't work. No one knows why, or how to fix it.

When I take a photograph, there's an option to "send to Blog". It sends the image somewhere I must assume as the progress bar fills up, but there's no indication of where it actually sends it. There are no "blog settings" options to configure on the phone. Some people here have described receiving a text message back afterwards with a code they use on the blogger.com website to link up with their main blog etc, but that isn't the case here. I don't receive any test message or MMS back. It says it uploads my image, it gives me an option to view the blog entry. If I choose yes at this point, I get an error saying "no DNS entry".

I've already spoken to lots of O2 data support people, and they're quite clueless. They referred me to Sony Ericsson's support, and they are equally clueless. (SE advised me to upgrade the software on my phone, but as I say I have the latest version).

Is there any solution to this? It's not a deal-breaker, but it would be a nice feature if it worked. Both SE and O2 are hopeless when it comes to actually knowing the features of their handsets and supporting them over the telephone.

Any advice gratefully received. Or if anyone has the same trouble, I'd be interested in hearing that too.

Regards

From what I have read, when you upload your first photo to your blog, it automatically creates an account for you and they you receive you account details somehow.

Does it not mention it in the manual?

Mate, we all have da same problem, under normal condition, we shall receive sms frm blogspot, contining the link as well as token, treated as pasword to access. Or if we choose yes at the point it was succesfully published, we shall b able to save n add the link as bookmarks. I knw tht there hasn't been the case with k810 users.

Could it possibly be because K810i just a new phone so that the system somewhere at Blogger website needs time to adjust itself? IMHO blogger system detects your SIMCard as well as your internal phone ID. IMEI number may be? And perhaps, just my guess, K810i isn't ready at the time being.

BTW, @jakontil
Have you tried different SIM Card? Try also disable Proxy in case you do it with Indosat IM3 simCard. With proxy enabled, the upload always fails.

That is what is supposed to happen. However it doesn't work for me (and many others, if the Esato forums are to be believed). I'm not sure if is is just an O2 problem but that doesn't seem to be too unlikely Of course, as clueless as O2 data support and SE customer support is, all this would be much easier for customers if only there were some blog config settings on the phone that the user can edit.

'No dns entry' is likely to be a problem with your provider (as it implies dns problem)..

At very first time when u publish a blog,u get a random name at blogspot like
addwig555.blogspot.com named 'my mobile blog'.

Than it asked me if i want to go to that site, then the blogspot site was loaded in my phone's browser and added to bookmark automatically....

Then i received an sms with a token where u can claim the account here.
Then you can change the name of the blog and associate with ur google account and so on..

Agreed, that's what it sounds like. However I've gone through all my data connection settings with O2 staff several times, it is all set up correctly and I can browse the web etc all fine.

Indeed, that's how it is supposed to go.
That's not how it worked for me though. When sending an image, the progress bar increases (suggesting that the image is going... somewhere!) and when prompted to view the blog entry it fails with the DNS error. There is no blogspot bookmark in my web browser, and I've received no token via SMS. It all sounds like a network problem of some description, but as I say I've checked the O2 Mobileweb data account it is all configured correctly according to O2.

Good idea. Doing that I get a more re-assuring 404 error (which is fair enough since the page doesn't exist) - much better than a "no DNS entry" error anyway!

Update: O2 are now claiming their network "doesn't support the blogging feature on the K810i". Of course at no point was that made clear when I was signing up for their network

@kiigan

Who did you speak to. You can get different answers from different people on matters such as this.

May be if someone else on here can confirm whether their K810i can blog or not.

I believe that the DNS error is due to the fact that after the Blog 'upload' and you get the chance to visit the blog, the URL presented to the browser is
http://www.

I'm currently beating up O2, as this is one of the key features listed for the K810i, so I think I should be able to expect it to work!
