Surfing the internet on a bigger/16m screen is better. Viewing photo on a bigger/16m screen is better. (hope you wont try to argue against these inarguable points).

Actually most people prefer to take a photo using a digi cam, and surf the net on a PC, and use their phone for, you know, making phone calls?

I dont see most people walking around with a P990 or a N95.

I would personally never choose a smartphone over the T650i because I dont need or want to carry an ugly brick around.

Is it 256K or 262K Yeah, I agree that it won't have much difference when viewed on the screen (with that of the 16M color-screen) . . . [addsig]

Plus I hardly think a company would go to the trouble of implementing 16m colour screens if there was no perceived benefit for the user.

That would be plain silly.

Well, there is a benefit so ppl that like hype will buy it and want it thinking it is much better. There is very little benefit on the eye. Even most 17" computer LCD don't display all 16m on the SAME time. Only those who has S-IPS panel can (those who got more than 170 degree of vert&horz viewing angle. Yes S-IPS panel is much more expensive but at 17" 1280x1024 it is worth it to be able to display 16.7m color at the same time while with 2.2" I would quite sattisfied with 262k. Anything less than 170 degree is surely TN device. There are other thing more important like readability in sunshine.

Also are you sure the Nokia is S-IPS panel because if it is TN it is still using dithering and NOT true 24bit 16.7m capable that can display all 16.7m at the same time.

Also consider here 320x240 is what 76800 pixel. How on earth ppl want to display 16m color on that 76800 pixel???

Actually most people would dread carrying their notebook, digi cam, video cam and phone everywhere they go. If you are happy carrying 4kg of weight in your pocket everywhere you go, then I am happy for you too. . Dont assume this applies to everyone as well.

I for one would prefer to carry just my all-in-one 120g N95 than 4000g worth of separate devices when I go out.

ps: sorry for the off-topic

Sorry P990 is 2.8", identical to E61/i, N92(first S60 to have 2.8")....

....and there IS a difference between 256k and 16m colours, anyone who doesn't think so, go look at 2005 model, PANASONIC VS6.....
- a £99 phone! It even(dare I say it) shows up the Nokia 16m screens for what they are, let alone every other manufacturer stuck on 256k!

Chop, chop, SE!

May be i should say the upcoming SE phone, not a year or 2 back technology like p990

Or may be i should simply say SE sucks for failing to provide the so called best technology where there r many other parts need some improvement like nokia

See there? There lots of may be's n possibilities on the air

I am astonished to see SE P990i has 16384K colors as reported by SM Pro.

Please check: Swiss Mgr Pro/System/Colors which will show the following details:

Display
Dimension: 240 x 320 pixels
Colors: 16384K
Address: 0x65660000

When in the menus , the P990i like the P900i, P910i and the M600i show only 16k colours in order to keep the consumption of energy down. When viewing pictures and movies, renders 262 k colours. It's been discussed before here.

It's 262k

256k is a handicap, from other areas like binary numbers (2^8) wich people think is right to use in every situation :]

How am I complaining when I respond to a question someone asks?
And yes I have seen the screens irl.

Also I can't understand what your problem with me is plankgatan.

Do I have to be "lagom" and quiet and don't say anything to you when u bother me but instead go talk shit about you behind your back to everyone you know to be "swedish"?
Because yes that is the swedish way, smile and be polite when you are around and then talk shit about you as soon as you turn around...
I prefer to tell it to your face when needed.

Not my problem you understand less then half of what u'r reading in english and misinterpreting stuff (like in the k800 vs n95 thread), and plz don't make it my problem.
Enough is enough.
Now be a good old swede ok, no need to bother me more ;]

Hi all,

Just been reading the first review of the Z8 over at all about Symbian and look what caught my attention

"The 2.2 inch, QVGA, 16 million colour screen is the hardware highlight of the Z8. It provides bright and vibrant pictures with much greater depth and saturation than many other mobile device screens. Outside, the available viewing angle is much reduced, but is easily viewable in all but the very brightest conditions."

So for all of you that still insist that a 16m colour screen makes no difference it's about time you faced up to the reality that they are better and are being introduced in more devices, I'm sure they will even appear in SE devices eventually.

The first part of the review is available here

but jesus. as long you not use your phone for watching movies, big deal which screen you have ! (i use my phone to make calls, send sms/mms, take pics & listen to music). you cant find anything more boring to watch a movie on your phone (no bigger joy i think). if i want to see a movie, i use my laptop or my 40" TV.

for the first. do you have a big screen yourself ? (your avatar shows a t68) (just wondering because you remind everyone how dame important a BIG screen is ! )

for the second. take a look which phones who sells most in the world (is definitely not phones with +2" screens). its ordinary phones..and guess what, people enjoy browsing and looking on pics on them to.

and for the third. its ridiculous that a ordinary good, crispy screen shouldnt be pleasant to web browse with (or what ever).

@Dextrr

Oh don't be so silly why would you want a source, just the fact that plankgatan says so has to be enough surely!!

If it's his opinion with all his worldly knowledge and good enough fro him him why let the fact that of course it gives a better result on a bigger brighter more colorful screen get in the way if it's good enough for him it has to be for the rest of us and we shouldn't let a little thing like facts get in the way now should we.
