comparitivly the output in w00 ,,k750...was way loud..
just hope its the same this time around..

and is video recording better than k800 like was on the p990

The numerical keys seem to be quite small (in terms of height, not width), did you notice any problem typing on the keypad ?

Are the keys slightly in relief to avoid mistypes (like the K750i keypad which isn't totally flat) ? It's hard to tell from the pictures, even this close.

Thanks !

You can tell the difference between keys although they are pretty much flat. It's possible that the keyboard could change before release, so can't really comment.

I've read somewhere that the shake control can be turned ON/OFF. Could be a reason for why it didnt work with you. It wouldnt make sense to have it ON all the time without the ability to turn it off. Imagine jogging with the phone.

Absolutely no way to change tracks by itself while in your pocket. In order to use shake control you have to press the W button at the same time.Maybe thats the case,if Jimster forgot to press it, it won't work.I don't mean to offend you Jimmy, just supposing a possible reason.

Difficult to say as this can change before release. Seems pretty loud to me though.

The camera seems the same as the P1. I prefer the interface on the K800, with the box in the centre of the screen when focusing. Camera is pretty decent though and the video recording looks good. Camera quality on the P1 improved throughout it's development, so things could change on the W960 camera before release.

No HSDPA. No EDGE. No VGA 16M colours. No GPS. No Xenon flash. Still using older Nexperia chipset. No joystick (Some people prefer it). No shaker feature. Included DS220 missing caller ID display. Video only 15 FPS.

Just a few things that could have made this 'the' perfect phone.

jimster, does it have the function where if you turn the phone horizontally, the screen automatically adjusts?

cause it's in the W910i, and the K850i, and mobile review has said it's in the W960i as well. i think they also indicated that it's the motion sensor that allows for the horizontal/vertical shift function, as well as the shake control function.

so i guess it's either going to be on the W960i, and just isn't in your prototype, or isn't going to be on it.

This can be said for any phone! There is always and disadvantages, BUT for some ppl some disadvantage is clearly "non-needed" for them, so if u wanna this features, don't buy the phone.. I said again - any phone has minuses.. but we don't stop buying phones, waiting for the perfect one? Don't we?!

@Jim I know the w960 uses the same processor as in P1/P990, probably the same, 128mb ram as in P1, but is there any differences in the menu speed & all-over-performance? I think the speed issue is very important thing for the new SE smartphones.

@goldenface Thanks for the link/pics.. The phone looks quite good in this live pics.. I really love the desighn

Thanks.

These two circles are two LEDs providing steady burning light for video recording as well as flash capabilities for imaging.
Nothing really new.

It doesn't do the screen orientation thing or the shake (even with the walkman button pressed)

Not sure on the fps of the video, but it looked pretty decent. It's not really something I use. I'd have to look at a 990 to check.

The lights are LEDs as mentioned. They come on when focusing and flash when taking the picture. They can stay on for video recording. Or you can just half press the camera button and use it as a torch

Can't really comment on UI speed as it is an early version of the software.

I'd prefer it to be metallic or red/orange like an early drawing I saw.

I work for Sony Ericsson which means I'm only allowed to talk about stuff that's been announced or released.
