so u think, all e61 users will take the e61i, or is there any "advantage" what makes users to stick to e61? will there be a non-cam version of e61i too? nokia did it usually...

Hi all,
To be honest the reason i have gone for the E61 and not the i version and am selling the N93 is i have found i really am not making enough use of the camera and video.
The E61 appeals as it has no camera and is made of a mag alloy(i have a thing for metal phones). The fact i can install and run all my current software including Fring just makes life easy for me and the theme i like using is the Black Theme by Dragon TMD which because it is so good has no issues with type or symbols being seen and is actually designed for the E61 also.
I just hope my Music sounds as good and am not even really that bothered about films or videos' but it will be interesting to see how they look on a better screen but with less processing power. But will re encode them all with Nokia Media Studio to see.

Hi Maggfold,
Many thanks for that as that is good news as i have a Nokia 3.5m adapter and a set of Shure EC2's so really do use it for Music a lot just looking forward to a smaller phone then the N93 well at least until the E90 appears.

shell out some extra for lonely cat games' "jukebox" - great music player, incredibly fast at updating library, playlists - good equalizer, lyrics-download (+cover art), minimize on start screen etc etc... (doesn't play aac, though... not yet, they are very good at updating for free) - did I mention the internet radio that is included???
oops, Do I sound like a fan (or, eh, Nokia weirdo )

Hi Boba,
as i said really no need for a camera so no point in the i version, although i have seen LC Jukebox to be honest all my music is in 160kbps AAC in Nokia Music Manger and am not going to re encode it all again plus i have been very happy with the built in app.
To me album art etc is just pointless as i just select an Album or play list and listen definitely won't be looking at my screen but those are just my preferences.
I always delete all the installed garbage and just run with one ring tone one e-mail/text alert and maybe 2 themes max. Will add Handy Taskman, Handy Clock, Nokia Search app the original that just searches the device not the web, Nokia Podcasting as i really like it, Fring for obvious reasons, Pearl Black theme and most probably TT6 and or me that is all i need with 2X 2GB Sandisk cards i should be happy. oh and nearly forgot also going to try the Nokia Wellness app as that is quite relevant for me as i need to keep detailed records of my medications and pain levels.

@dogman - understood... Just mentioned the albumart for completeness... Don't quite see the point myself beyond 5 mins fun... @boba, you lost me a bit with the "crispy screen" (though you weren't talking to me ) -??!

Hi Boba,
I will have to let you know on Tuesday when i get it, but i decided the E61 was right for what i feel i need until the E90 arrives and then i will decide. I have had my N93 for 8months which is quite a while for me and just fancy something different for now and smaller.

@dogmann...
You'll love it i am 200% sure mate! But u say its a mag alloy??? The E61i is but my E61 is 100% plastic on the outside... it looks metal but isnt...
Themes wise i always find it best stickin to ones made for E61 as the other themes with backgrounds stretch the image an they look a little strange sometimes...
I can highly recommend the Wellness Diary, i've been using it and it works fine and dandy...
Also recommend Nokia Sports Tracker if u have a GPS Reciever as it tracks all your movements and plots them onto a map and gives u average speed, max speed, distance travelled and also gives u the option to export the map onto google earth!!!
I got the e61 for the same reason dogmann... I dont need a cam as i have two professional cams for work... A Hasselblad for studio work and ma Cannon EOS 1Ds Mark 3 for out and about work!!! so the e61 was great for me to have!
Main reasons for goin to the e61i are:
*Little bit smaller
*Keypad a little bit more spaced out
*Joystick has been replaced (was easy to use but hurt ma fingers a little lol)
Dont forget once the phone has arrived i'll post some pics for u lot! |

Hi Jon,
OK i must of got that confused then about the mag alloy not really a deal breaker as all my devices go straight in a Krusell case any way. Yes the Wellness diary will be good but the sports tracker is way beyond my activity levels now or for the for see able future. Although i could always use it for tracking my dog walks which is as active as i get. Look forward to seeing the pictures of the i version once you get it and thanks to all for the advice so far, as i said i am looking forward to it arriving and then setting it up which should be pretty simple for me as i have everything i need already.
