Lets start a separate discussion for the new BB Connect required for R5A.

Anyone with any news?

hahaha... good move!

i got 'fooled' into upgrading last night... first thing i did after finding out about the firmware was to go to SE's support pages and check if there was a new version of BB Connect/Desktop.

and to my surprise the link for the BB software was in fact 'Down for Maintenance' or whatever the message was... so i was CONVINCED they were putting up a new version!

after the link became live again, turns out its still v3.45

anyhow... i think the new one might be v4.0 thats already been announced for the Nokia E90, which is still far from launch. i hope it shows up for UIQ3 sooner that.

@asida: you cant be serious??

youre receiving emails etc?

and you have R5A17?

on a different note, whats irritating is is the fact that SE put up a new version of Exchange ActiveSync earlier today for the new firmware.

But no Blackberry love.

Blast - why didn't I check here before updating...
Now I'm running R5A17/R9F011, happy to be rid of the transitions, but no BlackBerry...
Service doesn't even start: it reports "APN connected", then no connection to service. Can't send/receive email, can't search for addresses, can't sync calendar...
The BB mail icon (yellow enveloppe with green @) is not displayed anymore on the bottom of the screen - I guess because no messages are coming through.
SE still publishes BBconnect 3.45 - installer is "SIGNED_blackberry_R1A47_V3_45_1_P990.sis" which admittedly should've been a warning; however I would've hoped for SE to flag the issue on the BBconnect download page, with a warning 3.45 is incompatible with latest firmware...

Question: is there any way to revert to previous firmware?

No way to revert to older firm ware sadly. I also email'd SE support and got the stupidest response. 'thank you for your query. As you are a US resident, you will need to write to SE Support USA. This is the UK support line. ' can you believe that?

Here's BB Connect 3.5:

http://rapidshare.com/files/2[....]V3_50_ZEBRA_localised_PROD.SIS

This should definitely work on the new firmware.

@akhilkvav:

thanks! works like a charm...

in retrospect, we had to wait only 3 days for this, which is great.

akhilkvav: my hat off to you!

I downloaded BBconnect 3.5 this morning, installed over 3.47, sent a new registration message, then used BBconnect Desktop on my PC to connect to P990i and reprovision services. Works fine since then: tested incoming and outgoing email, calendar appointments and directory search.

Many thanks for your timely and accurate help!

Cheers,

Thanks Akhilkvav,
I can confirm that the 3.5 you've provided is working great on BIS
(cingular) on Phone: R9F011/CDA: R5A13 now.

Appreciate the help.
