I got this idea from Sammy_Boys How to spot a blocked phone thread.

I thought it would also be a good idea to post a 'What to do next..' guide if people find this has happened to them.

At the moment I don't think I would know what to do if this was to happen to me and it is becoming increasingly common, what with so many phones being traded on eBay etc.

May be some of our more experienced members could help out on this -

  • Is it just a matter for the police?
  • Could we do anything even if we had the seller's address details?
  • Is there a central Mobile Insurance contact where we can report this?
  • Should we be able to ask for the IMEI number to check out before we purchase a mobile?

Any advice / ideas / links would be welcome.
