right, I'm all set up, NSS recognises my phone and I have been given a generic product code

as doing this on Nokia is new to me I'm just looking for some confidence from someone more knowledgable who has already done it

btw, is NSU working on vista? I haven't tried that yet

Hi Masseur,

The latest version of the Nokia PC Suite does on the open download page say it is now Vista compatible and as the NSU is part of the PC Suite i would think so, i would advise downloading the newest suite rather than using the one on the CD as it was only updated about a week ago. If you have successfully given it a generic product code you should be good to go, I mean what's the worst thing that could happen, actually scrub that just don't think about it it should be fine. Just remember NOKIA prefer you to have your phone plugged in and charging and Don't remove the Sim card or battery or press C and all should be good. Also you should find it is much faster than SEUS. Good Luck.

ok, thanks for the tips, much appreciated. I haven't actually changed theproduct code yet. Just making sure the phone is fit as sold in case I have to take it back for relpacement.

while I trust the person who gave me the generic code I can't find any reference to that code on google, nor any place where someone has said they have done it and what product code they used.

I guess thats why I am a bit cautious here

Hi Masseur,

I'll take a look around and see what i can find for you but might be a bit early for this yet. Out of interest just what have Orange done to make it feel it's necessary to debrand i thought this early on it was only start up and shut down screens.

thanks fatreg, nice to know

the orange one is lightly branded that I can see so far.

just an orange logo on the battery cover which is easy to replace, an orange statrup and shutdown screen and the preset data accounts which cannot be deleted

thats all I have found so far, but the whole philosophy of branding has always not been my way so I guess thats why. probably don't need to really

the unlock code is already on its way to me

no. It seems NSU can't get through the office firewall.

not sure I'm happy enough yet. I'm not as brave as some on here

Hi Masseur,

See my post re the newest PC Suite 6.83 as this is now fully supported in Vista just in case you are still using 6.82 as the Nokia Software Updater will now work on Vista environments both 32 and 64 bit.

I'm using the Nokia software on Vista. However the Music manager seems to crash, I just drag and dropped the music onto my memory card, much easier!

yeah, the latest PC suite for vista seems mostly fine so far, managed to sync etc

nss doesn't seem to work on vista so when I do come to change the product code I will have to do that on my office XP machine as I've already confirmed it can correctly detect my phone there

but I really created this to get some confidence from someone who has debranded and to double check the product code used
